Before there was a hotel, there was a saloon. In 1852, thousands of thirsty prospectors filled their glasses at the original Golden Gate Saloon. After Grass Valley was destroyed by a fire in 1855, the owners quickly adapted and sold whiskey and beer to loyal customers from a tent among the rubble the next day. A seamless flow from the bar to the dining room and outdoor patio offers our guests the perfect mix of food and drink. Enjoy a contemporary menu with the fresh flavors of California and a dash of Mexico, utilizing the bounty of our local and organic farms. The Golden Gate menu is updated seasonally.

This place rocks. Great cocktails, great staff, nice seating options (though the tables are a touch smaller than I like), and a chef that KNOWS his stuff. The Golden Gate Saloon is a cut above the average dining experience in the Placer/Nevada County area. I can heartily recommend.
