Our menu features USDA Choice, Midwestern, Corn Fed Beef, fresh seafood, fresh pasta, spectacular soups and salads and daily "blue plate" specials. Prime Rib is our specialty.
We are "the local meeting place" for business and social events in the San Ramon Valley. It is a place where generation after generation of families has come to meet friends and family. It is a place where newcomers to the valley soon become old friends.
The Brass Door, formerly known as the 8/5 Club, was established by Howard Schlesinger in 1946. It was originally a six-stool bar and 20-person dining facility. Schlesinger's son, Mickey, and his partner Dick Basso bought the club in 1955. Soon after, they renamed the club The Brass Door. Over the years, the partners expanded the facility to include a 20-stool bar, 50-seater cocktail lounge and a dining area for 160 guests. Following a brief closure in 1994 due to a fire, the restaurant was rebuilt from its original location.

This place has closed it's doors and yet OpenTable is still allowing reservations. I hope your AI will read this review and stop allowing reservations.

Open table confirmed a Valentine reservation for me and we got there and it was closed down!!! It supposedly been closed down for months!! Why are you still booking reservations for them???

This restaurant is now closed. Their lease was not renewed. Last day was Xmas eve.

The Restaurant was CLOSED! They went out of Business on 12/24/25, a week before my reservation. And no one notified me, open table sent me a notice that day that my reservation was still good and see you in a couple hours! It basically ruined my wife’s and my New Year’s date! I will be calling restaurants or venues directly now for reservations! Open table is a joke and I will never use again!

I haven’t visited since the previous owners, probably 30+years ago but I wanted to have one last visit before they close. Unfortunately , the food and service was not the same. I know they’re on their way out, but they should go out with a bang instead they said they weren’t able to honor some of the items on the menu and wouldn’t substitute, then there was bugs flying around while I was eating (I’m pretty sure I ate one that landed in my plate), and one was in the salt shaker at my table the entire time I was eating just flying around in it, so that was pretty gross. I did let the waitress know; there was only one in the dining room at the time I was there and she was servicing five tables by herself. Sort of wished I didn’t go-my last memory was much more memorable in a good way.

We enjoyed our lunch at the Brass Door, our Servers very attentive: Food was good, so sorry they will soon be closing, longtime customers there. For Nextdoor community recommendation is to seat not in Fireplace area (once a favorite of ours), no “fires” burning there now. Try back rooms for meals or potentially at bar, more casual. -N&J

My friend and I both ordered the low carb mixed grill and it was absolutely PERFECT! Just the right size, cooked well, and tasty. Our server was great. Didn't really enjoy being seated at a table in the very back of the large dining room when there were open tables closer to the front of the restaurant, however. Wondered why.

We always enjoy The Brass Door. Good Prime Rib. Wonderful service. It’s a nice quiet peaceful place to go for a fine dinner.
