Sfoglia is a lovely little trattoria residing on an unassuming stretch of the Upper East Side, across the street from the 92nd Street Y. Farmhouse tables topped with the season's produce are the appropriate setting for Sfoglia's country Italian fare. The private dining room tucked away upstairs can seat an intimate party of twelve.

We had a fabulous dinner last night at Sfoglia. The food, service and vibe are truly outstanding. Lainey our server is the best.. very friendly and knowledgeable and attentive. A great neighborhood place I’ve been going to for years. You will certainly enjoy!

We would definitely return. Food was excellent. Service was great. And we could actually hear one another talk, which seems rare nowadays.

I reserved for a party of 5 to celebrate a birthday. A woman called at 4pm in the afternoon to upsell the private dining experience as a complementary gesture which she described as including its own private bathroom. I accepted. Turned out we arrived at 6:30 and drink orders were taken,. I even wanted to expedite the evening by ordering food while the waiter was still there. After a delivery of drinks and subsequently bread, we were left for two hours waiting for a few simple pasta dishes. The manager even came up about an hour and a half into the wait to apologize for the delay. Food came 1/2 hour later. Two of the dishes were left half eaten. Upon delivering the bill we were offered a couple mushy deserts to take home. Ambiance: very dark room with no natural light as windows were blocked by heavy curtains. Chairs were exceptionally hard and uncomfortable made of threaded weave. We sat around a single table. Overall a stuffy dark room. And yes there was a door leading to a private bathroom I didn’t make use of. Verdict: no food is worth waiting that long for and the weak apology of free mushy dessert was insulting.

Sfoglia is my go to place and never disappoints. I love the food, service and rooms. It's a casual atmosphere. The staff is courteous and kind. There's enough space between the customers which creates a nicer dinner experience. The menu is seasonal but not limited. My favorite is the Caesar salad (always on the menu) and Ramp pasta, which is around for about a month in May. Also their Carbonara is the best however, it's not on the Spring menu. The Tiramisu is divine. I could go on. Just go, you won't regret it.
