Beneath the pulsing city lies a hidden dining destination. USDA Prime steaks from the finest Black Angus cattle. Bespoke cocktails. A restored Bank Vault from the 1930s. This is Butcher & Banker, a new "steakeasy" at the crossroads of Penn Station, Madison Square Garden, Javits Center and Hudson Yards.

Butcher & Banker is no ordinary steakhouse. A dozen different steaks are on offer, but non-steak eaters will dine exceedingly well here.

Butcher & Banker pays homage to the New Yorker Hotel’s storied history. The New Yorker opened in 1930 at the height of the Great Depression as the then largest hotel in the city. It has attracted a who’s who of entertainers and dignitaries from around the world, including Muhammad Ali, JFK, Joan Crawford and Nikola Tesla.

Beneath the hotel, a bank vault and offices were occupied by the Manufacturers Trust Company until 1980. With the opening of Butcher & Banker, the public can see the vault for the first time in 37 years.

Eccellente NY strip e T-bone steak, contorni eccezionali, cotture della carne perfette. Ottimo servizio e location molto curata. Prezzo proporzionato alla qualità. Consigliato!

Carne fantastica, ambiente rilassante ma la presenza del cameriere che continuamente riempie il bicchiere dell’acqua rovina l’atmosfera. Prezzi alti ma in linea con la city

Posto molto bello, location raffinata. Torre di salmone meravigliosa, tomowak invece un po’ magra. Prezzo alto ma non altissimo per la qualità nel complesso.

The staff greeted us with a surprise champagne toast for our anniversary. The homemade rolls were terrific. We shared a massive shrimp cocktail. I had the generous Caesar which was excellent and my wife had wedge which came with outrageously good smoked bacon bits and could only finish half. I ordered the smoked prime my strip and she had the scallops with caviar. Both were fantastic. For sides we got the sautéed mushrooms, asparagus and the duck-fat fried potatoes (OMG!). We finished. With the vanilla crème brûlée and made it to our show at the Garden with time to spare. The service was exemplary and we will return.
