Fort Greene residents Ayana & Tobias Holler grew up in small towns in the rural Black Forest region of southwestern Germany, but their path never crossed there. It was much later, when they had both moved to Brooklyn, that they met, and fell in love. As a tribute to their love, to their Black Forest roots and their Brooklyn home, they opened Black Forest Brooklyn in December 2013 – an authentic German Indoor Biergarten and Kaffeehaus, serving regional German specialties and 14 classic German beers on tap.

This was the second time 'the system was down' so reservations made a week in advance didn't matter, however each time this has happened I lucked out and got a table for the number of people in my party. Maybe just stop taking reservations?

Great atmosphere and authentic German food! The family-style seating and rustic interior are inviting for a casual evening of great German food and beer. Friendly service and a reasonable price!

My server was Kevin E. was our server. He was very nice and I'm a server myself and given the chance he opened up for conversation which I love. I had the baileys hot chocolate, it wasn't as strong as I'd like it to be especially for ten dollars but it was still good. I also had the friend veal, it was delicious.

The food was excellent BUT the manager said they don't take reservations on weekends. I showed him my email from you. We were seated but he said he would contact you.

The food was delicious. The flatbreads were perfectly crispy and the toppings well composed. The goulash was also delicious and savory and full of flavor. The beer selection was deep. Enjoyed the laid back atmosphere but service was somewhat dismissive and not very friendly. It's a good local spot with a lot of options for a lot of people but service can be better

Fantastic place. Really authentic Black Forest kitchen (we know what we are talking about...we grew up there). Some of the best German beers and wines available, all at reasonable prices.

Good food. Nice staff. Unfortunately an 85$ bottle of wine we ordered was corked but we did not want to send it back. Basically a great place for German cuisine and beer. Liquors and wines leave a bit to be desired.

Place was packed - 2 servers were working and 1 runner - owners are to blame - people were getting up and leaving because food and drinks were taking so long to come out.
