Thankfully no background music, just the happy hubbub of people enjoying themselves and the superlative food. The staff are so friendly, knowledgeable and relaxed, completely professional and helpful. Always a great experience here, lovely surprises with imaginative food beautifully presented. It was a cold day outside, but inside all was cosy and comfortable, never pretentious but thoughtful. .

We celebrated my sons birthday here,he’s been wanting to go for ages! Everything was perfect from start to finish. Yes it is a little expensive but as a special treat it was definitely worth it. Will be booking agin for the next celebration!

This is a beautiful restaurant set in a magnificent building. The food is very nice, we each had a starter and a main course. Everything is well presented and very clean. My son is a diagnosed coeliac and there was a bit of an issue with the gluten free beer being labelled as containing gluten but this was dealt with very quickly and efficiently and it was found to be a fault with the manufacturer, not the restaurant. The manager couldn't have been more helpful and went above and beyond to resolve the issue. We were very grateful for that. We look forward to visiting again.

just wonderful. The attention to detail in this lovely old coaching Inn is perfect. Our Food was delicious; steak onglet, duck confit and a chicken schnitzel, highly recommend all of them. We also loved the 'Bin ends' wine list; where else could you drink a bottle of 2000 Pomerol for less than £75! The 'normal' wine and drinks list is exceptional too and makes a lovely change from the usual wine merchant supplied packages that seem to be the norm nowadays. The staff are very attentive without being overbearing and are a credit to the owners who have done such a great job of making this one of the best inns in the area
