Dinner for two on 12 June 2026. A genuinely wonderful dining experience from start to finish. The food was exceptional — fresh toppings, generous portions, and dishes that felt carefully prepared and full of authentic flavour. That said, the pho noodles — the star of the menu — fell ever so slightly short. The broth, while pleasantly aromatic, lacked a little seasoning and that deep, lingering umami quality you'd hope for from a great bowl of pho. A touch more complexity in the base would elevate it from very good to truly memorable. It's a minor point, and one that's easily fixed, but worth noting for a dish that carries the restaurant's name. The service was outstanding. Staff were warm, attentive and full of helpful recommendations without ever feeling pushy. They made us feel genuinely welcome from the moment we walked in. The ambience perfectly complemented the meal — relaxed and inviting, with a calm buzz that made the evening feel special without being formal. Pho Harborne is a real gem in the neighbourhood and we'll absolutely be back — hopefully to find that broth dialled up a notch.

First time at La Plancha with friends who have been before. Quick drink at the Fighting Cocks opposite (great pub) before venturing to the restaurant. Seated by the door which wasn’t great as it sticks open so on a cooler night would be very annoying. On arrival we asked to be seated elsewhere but was told not possible even though upstairs didn’t seem busy? Not with standing that the food was lovely, good size tasty portions so no grumbles. We asked if we could order in small batches which was no problem for La Plancha but often an issue with tapas restaurants. Wine choice was limited but the quality was excellent. Would definitely return.
