Our restaurants are located in Ongar Essex (just off the A414) and Wapping in central London (near Tower Bridge). Both restaurants boast an extensive menu of fresh fish that we offer to cook in a variety of ways to suit every palette. We also offer locally sourced meat dishes to accommodate those who prefer their food terra firma. To compliment the quality of our food we have worked closely with well renowned independent wine merchants to ensure we have a selection of wines that are the perfect accompaniment to every meal. The only problem you may have a Smith’s is being spoilt for choice.

The Galvin Green Man pub is a return home for Michelin starred Essex-born brothers, Chris & Jeff Galvin. Already awarded a Michelin Bib Gourmand and 2 AA Rosettes, the building is set in 1.5 acres of riverside meadow amidst the beautiful countryside with the River Chelmer as a companion, near the village of Great Waltham. We've been serving the people of Braintree and beyond since 2015 and in that time have humbly become ‘one of Essex’s best restaurants.’ We have received recognition from the AA, having been awarded an AA Rosette for ‘culinary excellence’ for five consecutive years, and then in 2023 we received our second rosette, putting the restaurant amongst the top 10 restaurants in Essex. Our food is of course one of our main focuses, but we don’t just stop there. Attentive, relaxed and friendly service is as important as the food and our objective is to make your visit an enjoyably memorable one. Our exceptional wine supplier, Peter Watts Wines (based up the road in Coggeshall) allows us to offer you delicious wines of an exceptional quality.     Thought I was eating in a small restaurant in France. Food was absolutely delicious. Took my wife, relaxed, French cool, not pretentious. So much better than going to a chain restaurant, dinner leaves you with a memory. And unless you are a top home cook, you're never going to recreate the flavours. Perfect date night dinner choice, and if I had a mate visiting Stortford, I would definitely take him there. Breakfast menu looks great, will be going back. Thanks!

    Love Hasturk this is a restaurant we always come back to! The food is amazing, the staff are friendly and always a quick service. We booked a special birthday meal for my 16 year old ( they picked Hasturk). When booking online I mentioned it was his birthday and they played/sang happy birthday. It’s always so clean and so are the toilets!

    We are a vegan and vegetarian and there are always options available. The mushroom risotto was a good portion and very tasty. We enjoyed the wine too and the service is friendly and attentive.
