Welcome to The Dorset Arms, one of Sussex's best kept secrets..

The Dorset Arms Public House in Withyham is an 18th century alehouse situated in the outstandingly beautiful Sussex Weald. Part of the historic Buckhurst Estate, the pub is named after the Earls and Dukes of Dorset, one time heads of the Sackville family, and shares a heritage of family ownership now headed by their descendant, the present Earl De La Warr.

Showcasing the best of what Sussex has to offer, our Head Chef has fine-tuned the classics and combined them with modern British dishes to provide a diverse and exciting menu.

Delightful. Lovely pub, great place to end up for Sunday lunch. Service was a bit slow, but charming. Good selection of beers help us chat through whilst waiting.

Food was fabulous, one of the best Roasts we've had recently. Cooked well, great variety of vegetables too. Service attentive but didn't rush us. I visit pubs regularly and was extremely impressed with the overall experience. I felt I couldn't make one improvement. The fruit crumble was delicious.

Lovely English pub. Staff readily discussed it's history and the food was freshly prepared. Whenever we return to the Ashdown Forest area the Dorset Arms will be visited again.

All our food was very tasty. The ingredients were high quality and we really enjoyed our first visit.

The food was, as usual, very good, but we were seated in a small room next to the kitchen. It was a little like sitting in a corridor, and we could hear the music from the kitchen (very bassy). No effort to control it. It must have been obvious, especially when we asked to move tables. Nobody asked why. It was a little surreal. It was as if they were pretending it wasn't happening. Given our past experience at the Dorset Arms, it came as a surprise. Not sure what to make of it.

Excellent warm and friendly service, but with quality dishes to back it up. Very pleased we chose to eat here.
