Excellent service and excellent food. Great place with great atmosphere.
Went to the Water Grill for the first time. My wife and I was celebrating out 20th Weeding anniversary. Food tasted great, but the service sucked. We sat eating our dinner without water for the entire time even though our waitress acknowledged we were out of water and said she would be back. Service was terrible.
We had tickets to a show. Waiter was kind enough to ask that up front, right away. We told him yes. The final serving of our meal, the entree, was brought to our table 10 minutes before showtime. We had to gobble it down, flag down the waiter and ask for a check, then dash out the door and barely made curtain time. Last time we eat there again before a show....thought it was handled, it wasn't
Great dinner!! Very organized and amazingly friendly.
We had some issues in the past with one server but tonight we felt that Water Grill is back as one of the best places for seafood in the OC.
Strongly recommend the place as the ambiance and quality of the seafood is excellent.
Everything was delicious and the service was exceptional.
Overall ambiance was good and service was very good. But brunch was mediocre.
Always love coming to Water Grill. The atmosphere and food is amazing. Thank you guys.
Our two sons came down from the Bay Area for Thanksgiving, one with an important girlfriend. Thursday, Thanksgiving: the extended family. The next night we went to the Water Grill, just the five of us, my wife, our two sons, and the important guest. The valet guys: good. The interior architecture of the Water Grill: appealingly eclectic, unusual – booths here, a long narrow bar table and tall chairs parallel to a beautiful bar there; then, surprise: another room. A step outside and into yet another section. The online PDF of the floor plan doesn’t do justice to the wonderful slapdash of the place.
Those who seated us and those who took our orders and served us were full of energy and smiles, of clever, funny ripostes. Drinks fine, swift, on time. My wife ordered a common cocktail not on the menu, and the bar did a superb mix – excellent. The Alaskan black cod was very good, but the sea bass was better: the sear in butter was perfect, crunchy and packed with flavor on the outside and succulent on the inside. That plate itself was worth the trip. But beneath the bass was the butternut squash. A yummy look, but cold. Each plate. All of it.
"Is it supposed to be cold?"
“Oh, no,” said the waitress.
Shortly, a side dish arrived to make up for the first, and it was superb, hot and delicious, telling us that this is how the first batch should have been. A small matter, quickly remedied.
The complaint I do have, may be peculiar to me. The place was loud. The ambient volume made table conversation nearly impossible. I could see lips move, but it was all pantomime. Not what I preferred. The guy whose only choice is to lean into softly scented hair, the ear of the woman he wants to woo – that guy might welcome the volume. Me, not so much.
And then there is the fact that the Water Grill is pricey.
Wonderful service and thank you for everything. Food is very good.
Great food. Great ambient. Great service
Service and food were outstanding and they allow us to celebrate Mom on her birthday
We had a great time celebrating an anniversary at Water Grill. We went for lunch. The food and service were excellent.
Didn’t care much for the flavor!!!
Great food and service
Tried new items. Everything was delicious. Our waitress Helke always helps with recommendations. She’s the best and so is the food.
Our server was the best he went over everything and gave us the best recommendations
Outstanding food and service. We had the best cooked halibut we have ever had at a restaurant. They made our anniversary special. Great restaurant all around. You pay for what you get.
The food was average but very disappointed with wood tables that are bar statue. Dinner was 400.00 for 4 people with no alcohol. I would have expected that with fine dinning. This is a glorified sports bar with TV's all around
Very disappointed with the food quality this time.
Love love love this place. Can’t wait to come back again.
Had a lovely time. I was taking my daughter to a dinner and a concert. The dinner was excellent as was the concert.
Our server Adam was FANTASTIC!!! His recommendations for wine and food were spot on for what we wanted. Adam made our dining experience 9And Mom's birthday) truly memorable!!
Very cordial and friendly staff. Our server was helpful in selection of our lunch items. The quality of the seafood was excellent. Great location if you are seeing a show or shopping.
I was rather disappointed as we were really excited when we found this online by Segerstrom. We go to see plays all the time there & continue to choose the same restaurants. So for my daughters bday we had tickets to Anastasia for the five of us.
The bread was good & my granddaughters crab cake was good but not the other appetizers.
The 2 filet minion steaks were brought out bloody raw same with the mashed potatoes. My daughter went with the waiters suggestion of the spiny lobster & said it was just ok.
The waiter was good and brought out some desserts for free to try to salvage the experience.
For a $500.00 bill, I was totally not happy with my choice of restaurant & would not go back.
Great place as always
Noise was overwhelming. Scottish Farmed Salmon was mushy. Spiny lobster was tasteless.
Beautiful room, but no soft surfaces to absorb sound.
Particularly disappointing compared with downtown Los Angeles.
Outstanding service, food was amazing, wine list is awesome. Great place for dinner and never rushed by the fabulous wait staff.
THANK YOU ALWAYS THE PLACE TO EAT AT BEFORE THE PLAY .. THANK YOU OUR SERVER WAS VERY PLESANT AND HAD US OUT ON TIME .. THANK YOU
great food experience,nice place,good service,good wine list.
The food was delicious and our server (Adam) was very knowledgeable about everything on the menu. He knew the answer to every question we asked about the menu and that always makes for an enjoyable dinner outing. We'll definitely go back!
The best in town
This was our first time to the Costa Mesa location , though we have been to the downtown LA and Santa Monica locations over the years.
The food was quite good and nicely presented. The service was attentive, though the restaurant was crowded and we got the feeling they could have benefited from more wait staff.
The ambiance was more casual than we expected. I wore a sport jacket and felt overdressed. For that price point I would have very much liked to have seen a more upscale decor.
We had a reasonable experience at Watargrill - the drinks were excllent (hats off to the bartender), although a little over priced. The fresh shellfiush was delicious and truly...fresh. The crabcake did not include any lump crab. A dissappoint. Anyone who travels to the Northwest or East Coast would comment on the anount of "binder" in this appetizer. The scallops were cooked perfectly, although each included grains of sand. Be ready for medium+ spicy flavor with the Cioppino. It is not for the faint of heart. Don't ask to take it home, you will not receive all of your broth and the leftovers are placed in a box. Soup in a box? Interesting...If I retunr, I will do so with the cavieat of very clear communication with the server. No sand, no breading - just seafood.
Mediocre food preparation for the prices they’re charging.
The service was so bad it reminded me of places I will never go to.
Management be aware! at this point it’s hard to recover.
The Water Grill exceeded our expectations. They were super attentive to our needs and knowing we were celebrating a special occasion as well. The food was amazing. We will surely be dining here again. They made us feel very special.
The restaurant is beautiful inside. All the employees are very friendly with great advice on what to order.
The service wad great. The food was pricey and just mediocre, everything was too salty, even the bread. No free parking, valet wad &7. Tables are too close to one another and very noisy. Won’t return again.
I love the Water Grill, it’s our favorite pre show meal location.
The food is generally excellent and the service is too.
It does seem like the prices have inflated recently and are pushing the upper end of what seems reasonable for the location and quality of food served.
Everything was great!
