    We booked a table before a recent show at the theater across the street. Service was slow but friendly, and the staff apologized to us at nearly every interaction, saying that they were busy and implying that they were understaffed. We heard staff apologizing to several nearby tables as well. This was on a Friday evening before a well publicized show at a popular theater. The food was just OK; my chicken piccata amounted to an overcooked deep-fried chicken breast with a very salty sauce, mashed potatoes. and some sorry-looking green beans. When it came time to settle the bill our server had disappeared, so I had to go to the bar to pay. Disappointing to say the least. While Hagerstown is a small town, there must be better options.

    We enjoyed our meal at Veva’s. The portion sizes seem to be off a bit. The gnocchi was loaded with pasta, needed a little more protein to balance. The salmon entree was tasty, but the wild rice seemed like an afterthought.

    We were quite late because of problems at the airport. We called and they said there was no problem and our table was reserved. The gentleman who served us was pleasant and gave plenty of time and space to catch up with our family that we were meeting before taking our order. His recommendations were spot on and the food came out promptly and was delicious. There was no pressure to finish and we thoroughly enjoyed the restaurant and the food.
