We had the food from the Olive tree cafe at the Comedy Cellar. The Cheese Burger was really good. My Girlfriend and Parents had the mac and cheese and it was also very good. The server was amazing!
Great food - this time we had cheeseburgers and fries -delicious! Our server was wonderful. Always a good meal - love coming here.
It was nice, tiny bathroom downstairs, but it’s all part of the vibe
We ate here before going to the comedy cellar. The meal was affordable and very tasty. Staff were friendly and attentive. Lovely ambiance inside the restaurant.
If you are looking to enjoy your life, this is the spot.
The choices on the menu were an excellent example of Middle Eastern food as well as a mix of popular American food. The lamb kofta was perfectly seasoned and the Olive Tree salad was enough for two. All the ingredients were fresh.
Outstanding service— great family owned restaurant. The food is some of my favorite in the city, and the people are welcoming and kind. Thank you!
Great atmosphere, friendly staff and good food. Thank you
Good and atmosphere were excellent. Staff also reserved a table for us on the Comedy Cellar where we had reservations for the late show and kep us informed as to our timing.
Outstanding service— great family owned restaurant!
Service was excellent. Very friendly . Provided good information about NYC.
bring back falafels on the middle eastern platter!!
THE place to go if you are going to see a show at the Comedy Cellar. Good food and service, and great people watching from the window seats to the people coming and going on the street.
We were doing a comedy show and went here for dinner per the recommendation of the comedy cellar. Had a nice experience. The Greek salad was amazing. The veggies on my chicken kebab plate were great too. The chicken itself was average.
Our server was great and superful helpful! The food was great and the feel was very relaxed. Overall a great stop before going to The Comedy Cellar.
The ambiance is perfect , Aryal was a great host and everything was lovely
The Olive Tree is always outstanding!! Service and food is fantastic and has great energy. The restaurant is upstairs from the Comedy Cellar so you never know who you may meet.
The staff was great. The lamb chops were delicious and they had no issue with subbing the mashed potatoes for coos coos, which was fantastic. The out door area looks great. Bonus: a chat with a few comedians!
Had reservations for 5pm. Got to the Olive and the lady there said "nope" they don't open until 6pm. She said Open Table had it wrong. But even their listing on Google said 5pm. If they can't get their hours right, do you think they clean properly? Plenty of other places in the area that know how to run a restaurant.
Our early dinner at the Olive Tree Cafe was such a wonderful NYC experience! The quaint restaurant/bar was a great place for my daughter and me to eat before our early show downstairs at the Comedy Cellar. Our server, Maren, was so much fun, and when we could not decide which entree to order, her recommendation of the salmon dinner proved to be the perfect choice for us! It was absolutely delicious! The entire evening was our favorite take-away from this trip, and we will definitely repeat the experience the next time we visit our favorite city!
Last night in NYC, trip was postponed because of Covid so we were thrilled to be there. So easy to have dinner before the show at Comedy Cellar. The staff was terrific, made sure we had all the information about the show etc. Food was so good--I had the Mac & cheese, my husband had chicken cutlet. Delicious! Our server treated us so well. We highly recommend The Olive Tree.
First experience at a comedy, was definitely on my bucket list of things to do. I must say they met and exceed all my expectations, the presenter was my absolute favorite !!! Super funny and really kicked the show to an amazing start !!! Definitely going back. Amazing, amazing, and amazing.
Arrived at 4:30 for our 4:30 reservation but they were closed. At 4:35 we decided to go to another restaurant. Around 5:45 we walked by and they were open so we popped in to say hey we we had a reservation but you weren’t open. The response we received was “OK”. Not an apology or explanation just “OK”.
Always a great atmosphere to catch up with old friends. Menu more limited than in the past, but borscht, chicken wings and Middle East platter are still amazing.
great place. good idea to visit before going to the comedy cellar
Terrific food and the places serves as a green room, of sorts, for the Comedy Cellar, which means you are likely to see famous comics coming through
We were pleasantly surprised by the quality and portion size, both very good! The chicken kebab had a wonderful taste and the greek salad was excellent!
I love this place one of the few nyc old places that I like to go to once in a while the menu has changed a lot but it good I use to love going there for falafel a bit disappointed that it’s not on the menu but other than that I will give it a 5 star :) going there makes me feel 20 again 🥂 and the band was great !
Went for Valentine's Day and it was really nice -- not too too busy -- just busy enough and the food was very good along with good service -- I prefer a little less ice and sugar in my mixed drinks, but the Manhattan was pretty good too.
I had not been here for quite a few years, when we used to dine at the place fairly often. So glad they are still around after all these years. I came back with a former colleague, and we both loved it. The food - we had the Mediterranean platter and parmesan fries - was delicious and plentiful. One portion was more than enough to feed both of us. And the prices are absolutely reasonable by Manhattan standards. The ambience was really nice and as I remembered and cherished it, with a cosy atmosphere, the Charly Chaplin silent movies still playing on a large screen, and chalk on the slate tables for the creative. Great value for money. I'll make sure I won't stay away too long.
I only had a water and hummus but the hummus was excellent and the waitress was also very kind and attentive. I wish I caught her name.
Been going there since at least 2002, my favourite place altogether. The menu changed recently (~2 years, maybe?), but if you ask for old favourites like mozzarella sticks, they still make them.
Good job on starting to take reservations, too.
Since we had just arrived on a 16 hour flight from Hong Kong, we wanted to go to a crowded, lively restaurant. We lucked out because the manager did not realize Open Table was still taking reservations. We arrived at 9:45pm. The place was packed. We got drinks and waited at the bar 20 minutes. We got seated at a booth table in middle of the restaurant with a good view of the amazing live band with awesome singers and musicians. They had a great trombone player who performed two numbers with the band. This was the place for American food! The tasty buffalo wings were cooked to perfection! We had the Greek salad. It was the best! The made the most incredible couscous as a side with vegetables for the chicken kabob. We had the Kendall Jackson chardonnay. The food was great. We had planned to leave at 11:30 to go to another party but decided to stay to hear some more music from the band. We ordered another round and a tiramisu desert. The manager brought us a complementary glass of champagne for the count-down toast. This was a great restaurant nice staff and amazing food and drinks!
have always loved this spot in the village. but bring back the falafels and the smaller middle eastern platter please!!! Big one is too much for one person...
Food was delicious. One negative was the kitchen couldn’t get our food out at the same time. There were 3 of us and one had to wait.
Great food and service!! Will return!
The live music show was great as well as the service. The food could use some improvements.
Nice place, nothing special. Hummus plate was the best thing we got, it was fantastic!
It is a brilliant place to see standup comedians and have a great dinner before a set. Truly a great place. Staff was fast, food was great. A little noisy but awesome.
Ate before attending show downstairs. Had reservations for show and didn’t need to step out in the cold at all. Great place highly recommended.
