We were hankering for good Italian food and were going to be in Chevy Chase, so we looked for a nearby restaurant with very good reviews. We found Talea and were not disappointed. We dined early because we went from an appointment that finished early. We had our pick of tables and selected one just inside the giant rolling doors that make the inside seem almost like outside. A thunderstorm had passed within a half hour of our arrival and the staff had set up fans to reduce the humidity. These were a little noisy but we were glad of their effect. We began with a shared burrata/tomato/pesto salad which was truly delicious. The house-made pesto was superb; the burrata delightful, and the dressing perfect. Soon after the salad arrived, we were served a basket of focaccia morsels with a wonderful little cup of oil, vinegar, and more pesto! My wife ordered the "daily pasta" (pasta del giorno), an immense serving of perfectly cooked (and maybe house-made?) fettuccine with a good Bolognese which was only $12! I had the Pasta Al Pesto E Pollo (rigatoni, chicken, pesto, and pine nuts). At first taste, I thought I might add pepper flakes or more cheese. My second bite told me nothing more was needed and the dish was exactly as it should be. We also shared a bottle from the Sunday-through-Tuesday half-price wine list (a very drinkable Montepulciano d'Abruzzo for $32) and a side of broccolini. The broccolini was the most flavorful we've ever had and cooked à point. Even though we could have stopped when there was still enough on each of our plates to take home without embarrassment, we finished every bite and every drop. Sadly, we left no room for anything from the dessert menu. We will go back soon and this time save capacity for dessert!

Food was good and the service was prompt. Only critique is that they have my table three pieces of bread. It was weird, but maybe because it was just a party of two. Overall good experience I’ll eat there again. Don’t be stingy with the bread. 😂

My second time at Talea and I'm already looking forward to my third. The decor is warm and beautiful with something for every palate on the menu.

Food was very good but service subpar. Took drink and app orders at same time. App arrived first. Had to flag our server down to give dinner order. At a later point she offered cheese for the pasta but never came back with it. Inside is very noisy—concrete floors, no rugs, but outside is nice.

We went to Talea for the first time with a group of seven for our son's graduation lunch. We picked it because we could walk from the graduation, and they had a table that could accomodate us. Although we didn't know what to expect. everything was fantastic from start to finish. The server, hostess, manager and support staff were all so friendly and helpful without being intrusive. We took a while to get settled and order and stayed quite late. They were always patient and made sure we were comfortable and having a great time, and our server really went above and beyond to take care of our table. The food was absolutely delicious. My sister is vegan, and my mother has a lot of dietary restrictions, and both of them were able to find great options on the menu. I had caesars salad and funghi ravioli, and both were delectable. Everyone else loved their food as well. The drink and dessert selections had something for everyone, including some unique options that we all enjoyed. Inside the restaurant is spacious and modern. They also have a large private party room (one of our son's classmates had their lunch in it) and outside seating as well. If you are looking for a restaurant in or near Cathedral Heights that is upscale and delicious yet relaxing and reasonably priced, I highly recommend Talea.

We love Talea. It’s become our go-to when we visit the National Cathedral. The food is always delicious and the deserts are very good. Highly recommended.
