Akizuki Sushi Restaurant, in Tokyo's Shibuya neighborhood, serves fresh and modern sushi creations in its warm and relaxing eatery. The pickled seaweed salad and the tenderized tako octopus with soy sauce and a dash of spicy mustard make excellent appetizer choices. Most diners enjoy Akizuki Sushi Restaurant's chef's omakase menu, which changes daily, but generally features sushi items such as marinated hirame flounder, mackerel with ginger, scallion and mint, toro fatty tuna, ebi prawn and marinated squid ika with Japanese mustard and yuzu.

Be sure to enjoy the atmosphere and Japanese cuisine with a selection of Japanese sake.

The sushi omakase experience was a bit disappointing. Though each dish was very good in terms of taste, the portion sizes were so incredibly small. While skilled, the sushi chef sliced each piece of fish so paper thin. Each nigiri was less than half of what a normal one was. It was just too expensive to not even be remotely satisfied. Also it was an anniversary, but there was nothing special added for the occasion, which is usually to be expected at an expensive dining experience. The cost was about 400 dollars. We did enjoy the quiet intimate experience, but left dissatisfied.

Absolutely incredible! Very English friendly without losing authenticity!! Chef was so gracious and the food was out of this world. The fish melts in your mouth. We did the 25k yen menu and left full and satisfied. Paired excellently with the shochu special. Will be back and will be dreaming of this meal.

My favourite restaurant in Japan. Every time I travel to Tokyo, I will always make time to visit Hata-San and Akizuki. This is my second year in a row visiting this restaurant. The service is impeccable, the omakase is amazing, and the entire vibe of the restaurant makes you feel at home. You can really see the effort that the team has made to make the environment as warm as possible for both locals and tourists. The pace was exactly what I am looking for, providing time to connect with the Chef, have some amazing Sake, and enjoy delicious nigiri. A restaurant running now for over 20+ years, it is by far the best hidden gem in Tokyo. No frills, just goodness. Amazing restaurant 100% recommend.

Excellent sushi, worth the price point. Staff is attentive and friendly. Location is good too, right near Shinsen station.

Had a wonderful Omiakase sushi meal at Sushi Akizuki. Chef-owner Hideki Hata was friendly and spoke English well enough to tell us about each course. The fish selection was great and everyone was nicely presented.

Food and service was absolutely amazing. Our party consisted of three adults and two children and we all agreed that this goes into the top 5 dining experiences of all time. The sake and sushi just kept getting better and better as the Omasake progressed.

The environment was quite nice and quiet but only 1 chef and 1 assistant to serve 10 customers at the same time, food was slow and taste just so so. Price reasonable but no reason to visit again.

We do a lot of omakase in the US and it just feels as through the chef was carful and delicate the meal itself lacked that certain art. It just seemed like he was going through the fish he had left over from the holidays and cutting portions based on that. Maybe because it’s a slower restaurant which was a nice change from the long waits in Japan he just had less on hand and had to portion out accordingly. It was good, and I understand the value from a cost perspective, I just think there are better omakase experiences both in Japan and America.
