Really enjoyed Scopa. First visit, last week. Food was delicious; lovely place, large, but still felt cozy. And it was quiet enough to have a nice conversation. Would def go back.
Third time here. Other visits great. This Sunday eve there were 5 tables in all and 6 people at the bar with one bartender. Took 20 min to get drinks appetizers came after a long time and were good. Another 20 min for mains. Not so good. Mine cold, and one in our party had been forgotten so we waited for that one. Staff were not overwhelmed with only 5 tables in the place. Bartender not good.
So dissatisfied as I had picked this place for birthday dinner and my guests had never been. No one asked how our dinner was while we were leaving. Never go on Sunday nite.
Hostess couldn’t find my open table reservation, even though it was booked 5 days in advance. Server never brought us bread - we had to ask the man who kept refilling our water (he was great). In general, server wasn’t great. Took a long time to get our food order in even though it wasn’t that busy. Food was mediocre. But cheap house wine - $28 for a bottle of red.
We were delighted to find them Chelsea neighborhood Italian eatery a few weeks ago and have been back a few times thereafter, bringing out-of-town guests to experience great cuisine in a fun and casual setting. The tables are not too close to one another -- a rarity in NYC. The service is excellent and the portions are delicious and generous, too. This is fast becoming our Go To neighborhood spot.
Good food, good value, service staff seemed a little overwhelmed.
Not recommended. The food was ok, it's possible to find better restaurant for the same price range. We won't come back.
The restaurant is cute and surprisingly good and not noisy for the area it’s in. Service could use a little help, however food was pretty good for the price.
Food was average overall. Service was lacking. It was so with almost no follow up from the waiter.
Christmas Day- Thank you so much to the staff for working Christmas day so we could relax and enjoy
my mother in law had the lamb chop that was amazing, ( we didn't want to do the prefix fish menu) I had the snapper tasty but very small portion Now the deserts only 3 options as limited menu but OMG the banana tart was incredible I will go back just for that
We all had a good meal in a group of 8. Only exception was rib eye too well done.
The ambiance was good
Had Christmas lunch at Scopa whilst visiting from Australia. We all thoroughly enjoyed Scopa and the food was amazing.
After making a reservation, we were turned away when we arrived. We showed up on time but we’re told they were closing early. We had to find a different place nearby but their food and service were horrible. Overall, a bad experience that started at Scopa.
Food, service and ambiance was average. I’d come back if I couldn’t get a reservation anywhere else. Best part of the dinner was that there were only two other occupied tables, which made conversation among our group quite enjoyable ( and audible).
Great brunch value in Chelsea - perfect for a meal before a matinee at the Joyce! A bit understaffed so service is slow- but super friendly!
Overall food was great from appetizer to pasta to crème brûlée. Service was average.
Host was friendly and the atmosphere was elegant, but not overly so. Nice setting with a modern tilt to it, the food was great.
Food was OK, they were out of a number of things on the menu which did not encourage us. Service was mixed.
Food was underwhelming, half of the food for a plate was not provided, forgot to bring coffee and then the cream, and break was brought after all the other food was delivered..
We had a fabulous experience - the staff was exception and the food delicious. My nieces were visitng from out of town and we ordered family style. Plenty of food to go around and we got to taste a little bit of a lot.
I missed this experience with the previous tenant. It was always way too loud - not sure why but this seemed lively but manageable.
Look forward to going back!
Service was slow (we kept having to hail the waiter and were there for over 2 hours)
The service here leaves a lot to be desired. We were sitting for 20 minutes without even having our drink order taken. Every time the waiter passed and we got their attention it almost seemed like we were bothering them. It was very slow and inattentive. Food was just ok.
The food was good but service was the worst i have ever received in my life. I had to literally go up to the hostess stand at one point because no one had come over to our table for about 30 minutes.
The hostess was a bit cold for someone in that position and we waited awhile after arriving because no one was at the front, but the waitstaff was friendly and the food was excellent.
Slow service and mediocre food. Plenty of better places in Manhattan. Only 2 beer choices. Nothing too impressive about this place
We were a group of 10 old friends and really liked this restaurant's relaxed ambiance and not being rushed. The salads were very tasty and there were a wide variety of lunch choices. Unfortunately, the food came out over a 20 minute period so that some people were on their main course while others had just gotten their salads. And three people ordered the same fish dish, which was overcooked and chewy. They would have said something to our server if we could have gotten his attention. The staff was very friendly, I just think they could use a bit more training. I would give Scopa another chance because it's hard to find a place big enough to fit a large group without being rushed.
Enjoyed the food, the pasta was very good, we sampled some appys, wild boar with polenta was great!! the house wine reasonably priced, just fair.
I went for brunch with my girlfriend, we tried ravioli and pappardelle pasta. Good quality pasta, they make it in house. Fairly priced. Ambiance is chic with jazz music in the background
Excellent Service No Wait time Absolutely delicious food A must Go again
Service was very slow, the food was very good and overall good value.
Very poor service. Food took almost 90 min to get to the table even though other tables received theirs. No accepting of responsibility or attempt at mitigation.
Arrived an hour early after theater ended st 4:30pm last Saturday for our cousin’s birthday. The place was empty and we sat at the bar since it was too early for dinner. Enjoyed a few drinks and at 5:30 asked the hostess to seat us. For an annoying reason she took us to a table right by the serving station (sub-par table) even though the restaurant was pretty empty. We asked for another table and she was quick to oblige us. I don’t understand why she did that- offer the worst table first even though we had a reservation and the place was empty... well the food was AWESOME and service was pretty good (they didn’t bring us bread and the entree came out too quickly.. The waiter could’ve been more attentive- He ignored my request for water and was a bit derogatory 😕 but he did decorate the dessert dish with Happy Birthday and a candle). His assistant was great! Attentive, quick and very hard working. Regardless of the minor negatives, we had a great time!! The restaurant was packed by 7pm and they did not pressure us to leave. Hugs plus. Overall a lovely experience.
25th birthday for my son. Everything was great! The space is great, very comfortable. Food was good, service excellent. No complaints, we will go back.
The food was delicious (Brazino was cooked perfectly).
So I tried Scopa and it was a complete disappointment. To start the drinks in special were not all available (no Sangria or Bellini). Admittedly, the wait staff did run out to buy ingredients to no avail. The wait staff were very pleasant and put in a bad position to deliver bad news. The venue was fine. For my food, the asparagus was over cooked ( bitter and crunchy). The prosciutto was far to salty. My guests enjoyed their meals. The dessert was forget On the plus side, the poached eggs were well cooked (runny). Will I go again? No.
My family enjoyed dinner at Scopa and it was some of the best Italian food we’ve ever had. The gnocchi was spectacular and our daughter ordered a simple rigatoni with a creamy white wine sauce that wasn’t even on the menu and they brought her out what may have been the best tasting pasta dish any of us had ever had. We were able to personally commend the chef, and would highly recommend Scopa. Truly fantastic.
My husband and I had Thanksgiving dinner (just the two of us) at Scopa. It was our first time at the restaurant. The menu appealed to us, and we liked that the tables were spaced out nicely. There was music playing a bit too loudly for our taste. The noise level was already high, and had the music played in the background, that would have worked. So we requested that they turn down the music, which they did, and that was better.
The Thanksgiving meal was a pre fix. We both had the Caesar salad, which was very good. Then the main course of turkey came out, and after a moment, I realized that the stuffing was missing. The recipe for the stuffing had looked wonderful, so I was chagrined that there was none— only turkey and mashed potatoes. I inquired about this to two different waiters who did not seem to know anything about it, but eventually, they sent the manager over, who went into the kitchen, inquired, and returned, saying that I was correct, and brought out the stuffing.
The service was very friendly, but did not seem knowledgeable about the meal they were serving.
I think this restaurant caters to families since I did not see many tables for two. . It seems like a nice restaurant to go to for a casual meal, but does not strike me as very special in any way.
We had a great Thanksgiving Dinner, it was tasty, friendly service, very nice location. We would definitely come again!
I was told that the cauliflower soup was only pureed cauliflower and nothing else! It sounded wrong to me but was assured. After eating it and thinking it tasted like potato, I called the mgr over to ask again. He went to the kitch and told me it was Cauliflower and potatoes!! I do not eat potato! Also I ordered a pork chop and got this big hunk of meat on a strange bone instead of the traditional pork chop i wanted. The mgr did take off the chop but said he was going to give us all desserts. We got one and paid for coffee. I wont be back
Great food and service -wonderful table in a quiet area - we were not rushed - great place!!
