Wonderful experience. Charming, excellent service and food.
I can't say enough good things... food and dessert was wonderful, great wine list, superb Service and beautiful atmosphere. Make sure you have the escargot.
Excellent food and service. Would definitely return.
We were there to celebrate a 60th birthday. Tony was our waiter and was very pushy on most expensive items on menu. Took a while to even get our drink order in. He then assumed we wanted a bottle of wine rather than 2 glasses of wine. We sent bottle back and his rolling of eyes and noises of disgust was too much! He then offered to take pictures of us after receiving our meal. In the middle of taking pictures he sets phone down and said he’d be back. We waited to eat since we wanted that in pictures and here he comes carrying another tables food. After dinner he proceeded to hand the bill to birthday lady. It was a very special event and Tony was a disappointment with his service and facial expressions. Won’t recommend to anyone since service was terrible and food was just ok. Extremely disappointing for a $240 bill.
Delicious meal with friendly and knowledgeable staff! Excellent food and wine suggestions were spot-on
Had been here once before over a decade ago, the mushroom strudel was just as good as I remembered. Escargot also fabulous
Restaurant is in a nice Spanish style village. Ambiance of restaurant was not worth the high cost of food. Service was lacking, waiter was not very friendly or attentive to our needs. Bathrooms were unappealing. Food was average. It lacked presentation, especially for the high cost. The wine was good. My main course was switched out as the roasted mahi was poached instead of roasted and lacked colour and flavor. Seared scallops were better. All in all, it was not the quality we anticipated after reading glorified internet information. For these reasons, we will not be back.
Fantastic food and service. We followed some of the recommendations of the server, mushroom appetizer and halibut fresh catch of the day. I had the pork chop which was cooked wonderfully. Also had Caprese salad and Beet goat cheese salad. Glasses of wine to pair with our meals. We arrived early for our reservation and they were able to seat us but the restuarant was full during our meal.
Service was great! Scallops were excellent. Pear salad was excellent. Carrot cake was very good. Mahi mahi was tasteless and disappointing.
Beautiful restaurant, great service and perfectly prepared food. Best I’ve had in many years.
Loved the escargot, lamb and Cabernet. My husband loved the gazpacho and filet!
The entrees were very much sub par, bland, and unseasoned. I ordered the seared scallops and more then one had multiple grains of sand. The sauce for the scallops had some flavor but nothing exciting. They arrived to the table not hot enough. The steamed veggies and wild rice that came with our entrees were bland and not seasoned properly. We had to reach for the salt and pepper frequently. My boyfriend ordered the mahi mahi with some sort of pineapple salsa on top. The fish was so bland/tough and somehow they made pineapple taste horrible. We sent the fish back and got the chicken piccata. This dish came with pasta which tasted like nothing (likely did not salt the water). And the piccata sauce was not great. The chicken was somewhat better than the mahi mahi but not by much, only had a few bites. It was not prepared how I usually thought chicken piccata should be (not dredged in flour, not pounded thin). We skipped out on dessert altogether. The bottle of wine we had (a Sancerre) was the only good thing we had! Appetizers were ok but seemed phoned in. The bread in the french onion soup was tough/stale. The pear and bleu cheese salad was ok but lacked enough dressing and/or flavor. I think we heard from a far that the main chef was out for 2 months. Glad we did not go for the lamb which was way overpriced - might have been good but not worth the risk given our experience with 3 different entrees. Needless to say we were surprised by how horrible the food was given the level of reviews. This has caused us to not trust open table reviews as much anymore.
It was soooo good
The restaurant decorations inside and out made it so romantic.
The food was delicious and tasted amazing
Everything was perfect. Especially food and atmosphere were the most.
Amazing all around!!
The service, food and ambience was excellent. Great presentation.
With high hopes we booked this restaurant and were sadly disappointed. From the poor service to the subpar food, it was not a memorable dinner. My husband ordered the Dover Sole, which was supposed to be pan fried, which it was not. It was rubbery and bland mixed with uncooked green beans with stems and 90 second style rice, this $50+ dish was atrocious. I ordered the chicken piccata which presented itself microwaved and tasteless. Our server, who was abrupt, decided we didn’t need any of the starter bread until we asked if it was offered when we saw every other table have it. We also waited 1 hour for our dinner to arrive, which we ordered immediately upon sitting down during our drink order. Oh and don’t let me forget the gazpacho soup…an old can of diced tomatoes, water and all, with some celery thrown in. SAVE YOURSELF THE MONEY. Go somewhere else.
The food and service were excellent
Great intimate and beautiful place. Eat outdoors of possible.
Nice Sedona dinner.
Escargot Lobster Salad and rack of lamb.
Good Service too!
Great place for a nice relaxing dinner. The rack
of lamb is their specialty and it was amazing. The antelope was very good and cooked to perfection. The service was great and attentive.
Quick attentive service
Amazing place to celebrate our wedding anniversary! Staff was amazing Tony was the best waiter we have ever had! They made our special night even more special!
Beautiful setting on the patio. The food was delicious and the service excellent.
Rene is one of the best restaurants I’ve ever been to. I visit Sedona yearly and eat there at least two of the four days that I stay. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for delicious food, great service, and a great atmosphere!
Bland overpriced food & unimpressive service.
Excellent service, wonderful Escargot, overcooked Duck, Dover Sole not as good as it was in previous visits, not as delicate.
Amazing food and servie excellent execution of all the dishes escargot Dungeness crab cake tuna tar tar shrimp cocktail rack of lamb carved table side filet of beef and roasted duck fantastic deserts flourless chocolate cake, crem brulee effortless and not eggy perfect shell and the pana cota (it was not unmolded) but delicious. Our new favorite place (bumping mariposa).
The only reason I gave it 4 vs 5 stars is because the chairs on the outdoor patio are horribly uncomfortable! The wire backs are awful! The seat cushion is okay, but having to sit in those chairs with the wire backs for more than 30” is unbearable! Cute, but
On the positive side, ANTHONY, our server, was FABULOUS!!! His demeanor and efficiency were extraordinary! Having been in the 5-Star resort and f&b business for 30 years, I can be quite discerning about food servers, and Anthony deserves an even higher score than a 5-Star! Priceless!
Another 5-Star rating for the BUSSER who was assigned our table! I don’t recall his name but he was great as well! We tried to tip him at the end of the meal but he was busy inside the restaurant. Another extraordinary employee!
The food, beverages, & dessert were exceptional as well!
We’ll definitely return to Rene’s next time we’re in Sedona!
Thanks to all for a great 25th anniversary celebration!
Lovely - some great traditional French options on my menu- great cocktails. Would definitely return.
We always enjoy the ambiance and great service at Rene! The food is great and the staff are friendly and attentive.
An extremely disappointing experience. The brie appetizer was inept, the sides were unremarkable, and the antelope was poorly executed. The filet was the best thing we ordered but it wasn’t cooked to specifications. Rene has a great location but the food was flatly unacceptable.
Beautiful interior and excellent outdoor patio. Large selection of appetizers, soups, salads, sandwiches and entrees for lunch. The DYI bruschetta with black olive tapenade, roasted red pepper hummus, prosciutto, mozzarella, fire roasted tomato spread and a selection of breads wowed everyone at the table. Chicken crepes and mushroom strudel were amazing and the presentation fabulous. Good drink and wine selections. Sebastian was attentive and his recommendations spot on.
Great service, old school attention to detail. Trained service staff that really knows the menu. Absolute perfect execution on our dishes, scallops and lamb. Could not have been cooked any better. Well presented, not over seasoned. We've had this restaurant on our bucket list for a long time and we're absolutely pleased with our visit. I gave value a 4/5 simply because prices for eating out have gone through the roof everywhere, so it's not really personal to Rene.
First of all, it is almost impossible to find this joint in Tlaquepaque mall: no signs there and no directions at Rene's website. Second, let's move on to the meal. The starter was escargot: while the snails themselves were quite tender, they were sliced in pieces. Why? The garlic butter was fine, but the fresh parsley gave it a neon green undertone, so it looked like splashes of toothpaste on our plates. Not quite appetizing. This was followed by the French onion soup. Hard to spoil, right. Not at all: the broth had a weird cabbage flavor while the traditional toasted piece of baguette was replaced by a piece of spongy, gooey loaf under the coat of mozzarella instead of gruyere cheese. For the main course, we had roasted duck, double cut pork chop and a side of a mushroom strudel. The poultry and meet were dry. Instead of a flakey dough on the strudel we got something stale that was probably stored in they fridge for a while before it saw the light of day. The dessert: the carrot cake and panna-cotta were fine, I will give them that. If you want to have bottled sparkling water at this place, you better bring it with you: they had none for us. The selection of spirits is mediocre. If you a bourbon lover, forget about it. Have a drink at home before you come there. But I would not dare to visit them again on our gastronomic adventure.
Great food and service. Just amazing. I also love the atmosphere with the outdoor seating area and water fountain.
We went to Rene for our anniversary dinner. By far exceeded all of our expectations. The food was phenomenal, service amazing, and location and atmosphere beautiful.
Will definitely be referring people to Rene for a beautiful evening.
Lunch was fantastic and chocolate desert outstanding!
I have been dining at Renee’s for several years. The food is divine and the service is impeccable. Don’t pass up a chance to experience Renee’s. On our last visit, our server Molly was exceptional attentive.
Ambiance is great, but a little noisy when crowded. The food is excellent and so is the service.
