   The service was great but unfortunately the food was not so good this time. There were four of us and only one of the meals was hot by the time it reached our table. My Traditional Eggs Benedict was lukewarm and the eggs were basically hard boiled. My husbands bacon and hashbrowns were practically burned but only lukewarm. The only hot meal that was the gumbo. Based on this visit I would not recommend Tavern on the Square.

   The ambience of this location is fabulous, it feels as if you’ve gone on vacation. That being said, I believe our server was overworked as she was pleasant, but to a large degree ,missing in action. The food was a disappointment. It was adequate, but at that price point, I expect more than adequate. We were disappointed.

   The food was ok, it did not come out as ordered and took a very long time. The service was also ok, it took a long time for the server to come to the table. When I pointed out something wrong with the order she just said sorry and did not offer any adjustment to the bill or anything else.

   It was very nice expensive and the quality did not mirror the price. The server was very busy and did not check on us and when she did was in such a hurry that we couldn’t get everything we needed and did not want to wait for things while our food got cold.

   We went to the restaurant for a small dinner. Penne pasta with pesto sauce and a slice of chicken cost $35. We could have gone to a nice Italian restaurant for that price. I ordered a beet salad which had approximately five chunks of beets mixed in with a lot of lettuce. That salad was $17.50. We ordered a half order of fries which was $10. With tip, our meal was $75. No drinks or dessert of any kind. The service was just fine but the prices were outrageous for what we ate. We will not return.

   The McMenamins Tavern is a great place if you are looking for basic pub fare, but their dinner menu is pretty limited - so be prepared for the limitations in choice. However the setting is a true gem for Bothell, (outdoor patio in good weather and huge indoor English style pub year round, both just wonderful) the drinks a amazing and the staff is delightful, so we will be back. Finally, parking is a total nightmare, a locals' tip is to look for parking about 3 blocks away or try and use the adjacent football stadium lot (if no game going on).

   We had eaten here before, but even so the food far exceeded my expectations. The salmon with a coffee and bacon relish was some of the best salmon I have ever had. Absolutely delicious flavors throughout the meal and great service made for a very nice night out.

   We've been to McMenamins for lunch and dinner quite a few times since they opened a number of years ago. It's a great place, and we really do enjoy having it so close to home. We discovered their St. Patrick's Day festivities a few years ago and try to go when we can. That said, our experience this year was. . . well, unfortunate. My kids (teens) were really looking forward to it, but we all came away disappointed. After being seated -- indoors, where we could see that table occupancy was definitely not full -- it took 15 minutes (yes, really), for our waiter, Ian to cruise by and tell us that he'd get us water soon. Then, another 5 minutes for it to actually arrive. OK, so we at least had water, finally. He offered to take our orders, and not just drink orders, as we'd had PLENTY of time with the menu already. He then proceeded to call my 16 year old daughter "Sweetie." Not cool. The food took forever to arrive, including the Black & White Fries, which are delicious. My daughter's pasta was cold and relatively flavorless. My corned beef was rather cold also. I guess they were sitting in the kitchen awaiting the table runner for quite a while. We were going to order dessert, as the brownie is always delicious, but recognizing just how long everything was taking, we opted against it and stopped at Safeway on the way home to just pick up the components and make it ourselves. Definitely not our usual experience at Tavern on the Square. Will we be back? Yeah, we will. We just hope the experience isn't repeated.

    We had a very nice waitress who was excellent. The food was just average, nothing wrong with it, but just standard fare. Things are getting so expensive in general that restaurants will need to do more to stand out.

    Food was very good. Service was poor. Food took over an hour because server did not mention that the braised ribs had to be prepped versus and cheeseburger. The server recommended the ribs over the cheeseburger without mentioning the long wait. Server offered free desert as a courtesy which was thoughtful, but the desert never came and it was necessary to get up from the table to find the server to pay after another long wait. Count on 1-1/2 hour to 2 hour for a dinner even at a slow time of 3 to 4 pm. McMenimans has wonderful ambiance and good food, but the service has fallen off a cliff.

    Worst service ever… 4 hours to get in and get out… did not bring enough dishes, glasses.. appetizers were 10-15 minutes apart… drinks were slow, had to get up and get our own… forget about a refill… Not sure but our waiter might have also been the cook… he disappeared most of the night… food took hours to come out then was ice-cold… Spent 500 dollars and was AWFUL……!!!!! Will never go back nor recommend.

    Great atmosphere, good food. Our server was great but we waited a long time to get our food: probably at least double the “average” for sit down restaurants. We were with good friends and enjoying the atmosphere, so it was all right, but I hope they’re able to hire more staff in the future. We’ll still visit again for the good food and ambiance as long as we’re not in a hurry.

    The food was hit and miss. Out of the five adult orders at the table, only one was rated as really good. Others were mediocre at best. Service was quick to take our order, but food was slow to come from the kitchen.

    We had reservations for 11:00 am & had to wait 20 minutes to be seated. We were advised that one of the kitchen staff had unexpectedly left, and that our food would take awhile. Awhile turned out to be about 1 1/2 hours. When we finally got our foid it was hot & good. Our wait person was very nice & patient.

    We have normally had a great experience at Anderson. However, this past Sunday, it took over 100 minutes for us to get our food. We heard rumblings that 4 kitchen staff had walked off the job mid-shift. When we inquired with our server (about an hour into our reservation) she replied that they were just putting the finishing touches on our food. It took almost 40 minutes later for our food to arrive. We all looked at ourselves when our food showed, wondering why it took so long for nothing complicated: avocado toast, pancakes, and eggs Benedict. There was no apology offered nor an acknowledgment that the day was excessive, let alone a comped dish or beverage. I hope they get their act together as we consider ourselves regulars, but are now reconsidering.

    Despite a reservation and a significant number of empty tables, we waited 15 minutes for a server to acknowledge us, and then waited significantly for our drinks and then our food (even though we ordered everything at once). It took more than 1 1/2 hours for food to arrive. They attempted to appease us by offering a $100 gift card for a future visit, and then eventually comped $100 off our ticket instead.

    I hate to write a bad review, but we had a really poor dining experience here last night. We had a reservation and got seated quickly, however it took more than an hour to receive our order (a burger, fish and chips and two kids pastas). Our server was not attentive, didn’t refill water or check on us, and explained that there was a big party that was slowing down the kitchen. The staff continued to seat other guests despite the slow down and food was not arriving. It felt like our order was forgotten. When our food arrived, the cheeseburger was cold like it’d be sitting out for 45 minutes. Our waiter comp’d our meals, which we appreciated, but a little service would have gone a long way. We love visiting McMenamins but this was not a good time.

    Was a terrible experience. Ordered a beer, it wasn’t cold. Ordered a $23 cheese burger and a $35 salmon dish. Food took an hour and 15 minutes to arrive at the table. Asked for burger medium rare with some pink, and it came as a charred hockey puck. Salmon was almost too dry to swallow. Waitress was rude and irritated and acted as if inconvenienced. Felt like I was being robbed when the bill was over $100.

    Great service. Comfortable atmosphere. Delicious drinks. As for food, stick with the burgers, fish and chips, or salads. Anything else and it appears it is beyond the capability of the chef. On Valentine’s Day, we tried the lobster bisque. It was cold and ended up being taken off the bill. The gumbo was also cold with over cooked rice and strange pasty flavor and consistency. Not good at all. Salmon was dry.

    Ants all over our table (30?) and in the women’s restroom (less). Hard to feel comfortable eating dinner, but had 4 super hungry kids and powered through. Staff was just sort of matter of fact about it (“yah, I sprayed there today”). It’s February and I can’t imagine why ants would be rampant like this.

    Had breakfast with family. Food is acceptable, but not great. Eggs were over-done and hashbrowns are from a bag (which is fairly common). Food and plate was warm, but not hot. But, McMenamins brothers are great at atmosphere and ambience, and the Tavern is a decent example.

    Really disappointed. I’ve been to the Wood Shop several times and liked it but wanted to try this place because I wanted a nicer ambiance and food choices. Should have stayed away. Our waiter was nice but slow. We liked the charcuterie board it the entrees were terrible. We were starving or we’d have sent them back. Like, why on earth would you put brown sugar and whatever else was on a beautiful piece of salmon? And my Louisiana bred boyfriend had the gumbo. He was turned off by the very strange flair choices, as in nothing like gumbo is supposed to taste like. And for Pete’s sake, if you put shrimp in a fish other than a cocktail, you take the tails off. It’s a pretty place for a drink. But that’s all.

    The food quality was poor. They certainly use frozen premade products instead of having a chef design the dishes. The burger and fries were cold and the gumbo was way too spicy for my wife. Tables are uncomfortable but the building is cool.

    It was early, and service was slow. The waiter communicated well to begin, then was perhaps distracted. We did not hear about our order for a long time. That said, when it finally appeared, the food was good and the price was fair.

    I usually have great food when I go, but yesterday when I went the food was cold and not good. Maybe the chef had a bad day? Or it sat way toooo long before being brought to the table? I had the Benedict and the English muffin was burnt and the Canadian bacon was cooked too long and was crunchy. Hollandaise sauce was luke warm at best. The others at the table didnt really care too much for their breakfast either. The only silver lining was that our server Bailey was super friendly.
