                      On the verge of signing divorce papers because I forgot to make a reservation on Valentine's Day (rookie mistake 😅), I turned in desperation to OpenTable. Like a culinary guardian angel, it suggested MARLENE — and they had exactly the time we needed. Crisis. Averted. From the moment we walked in, the place had that perfect buzz: lively but not chaotic, nicely packed but not suffocating. The kind of energy that makes people-watching fun. The food? Worth staying married for. Every dish felt thoughtful and beautifully executed. And the service struck that rare balance of attentive without hovering — like they somehow knew when we needed another drink before we did. So thank you, MARLENE, for saving my evening (and possibly my relationship). Pro tip: make the reservation… but if you forget, at least now you know where to go.

                      Half of the menu wasn’t available and we weren’t told until we were ready to order. For very simple food it was very expensive.

                      Despite booking via OpenTable, the waiter who greeted us said that he did not have time to check whether we had reserved or not and he snootily showed us to a table that was right in front of the open entrance doors, making it feel like we were sitting in a corridor. We asked to be moved to another table that had just been vacated but the same waiter barked at us that he thought it was already reserved (which did not quite square with his earlier claims of being too busy to check bookings). We waited for a while, during which we were ignored when we asked for menus and drinks, before eventually deciding to leave. The poor and unfriendly service was uncharacteristic for an Intercontinental hotel and even more uncommon for Berlin but it is for this reason that I would neither return to, nor recommend Marlene Restaurant.

                      Solides Bar-Essen und außergewöhnlich guter Service. Das Restaurant wurde uns von OpenTable vorgeschlagen. Weil es an dem Tag so warm war, haben wir uns für einen Tisch drauße entschieden. Die Bedienung war außergewöhnlich freundlich und aufmerksam. Meine Freundin hat sich für das Schnitzel mit Spargel entschieden, ich für den Marlene-Burger. Über das Preis-Leistungsverhältnis kann man geteilter Meinung sein. Der Burger war sehr lecker, die Pommes Frites fand ich zu lasch. Besonders positiv erwähnen möchte ich noch die Flexibilität bei Sonderwünschen. Insgesamt hatten wir einen schönen, entspannten Abend in quirliger Atmosphäre.

                      Historic resturaunt, the German cuisine served is superb. The wine list is very good and best of all the serve staff is very attentive.

                      Sehr exklusives Restaurant. Der Zugang war nicht einfach zu finden. Restaurant ist nur über die Bar zu erreichen. Service war fantastisch, Essen auch sehr gut. Preise waren i.O., wenn’s nicht das Rinderfilet sein muss. Kartoffel Brot war sehr lecker. Ambiente sehr hochgestochen, nett aber nicht zwingend notwendig. Schöne hohe Decke, jedoch von der Einrichtung sehr dunkel.
