   We may have been there on the "wrong night" we went Sunday, they were out of many wines and much of the food on the small menu was unavailable. we were very disappointed. the waitress was very nice but was running the place her self, she was running the bar and all the tables her self but unfortunately knew nothing about wine so she was un able to guide us... we were dissapointed,

   We have been here many times, mostly for the excellent tapas--and great drinks! This visit was on a Wednesday, when $5 "bocadillos"--in this case great smash burgers--are available. Really delicious, especially when paired with patatas bravas from the tapas menu. And very nice service as well.

   This was my first experience at a Tapas bar. The exotic choices of plates combined with unique drinks was amazing. It is the perfect spot for a first date, pre-dinner drinks, or even a casual evening out. We used this as a pre-dinner date (mom and dad night out). The service was slow at first, they seemed slightly short staffed for that evening. However, they made up for it in experience. The setting was low key, quiet, and intimate. The bar tender served our drinks at the table and explained his creation. The chef’s professionally served the tapas at the table as well. We Will absolutely be coming back. 9/10 recommend.

   I am excited to have a tapas option in town but found the overall experience quite limiting. If Mariposa ranks tops for one thing it is the most inappropriate pour of wine I’ve ever seen. We are world travelers and foodies and understand fine dining. This, however, was a joke. You do not need to go here with any level of hunger. The cheese plate was lovely for $13. The server pushed us to double the size, but we stuck with small and found it lovely. However, it came not even with crackers, just tiny pieces of bread. The server spoke to us with immense confidence - almost arrogance - “do you know what a tapa is” is a strange greeting by a twenty year old to clearly a couple in their fifties. They were out of the daily empanada at 6:30pm, and this was our only empanada option given that we don’t eat beef or pork. There are zero chicken items on the entire menu. There is one shrimp item - five shrimp floating in what appeared to be a spicy butter for $19.99. We’ve had shrimp from the greatest places and these were not $4 shrimp. The little potatoes were nice - basically potato wedges - for $11. The gazpacho left much to be desired. We’ve been to the Andalusian region of Spain, and this was not that. It was also $9 for maybe 1/3 of a cup of reddish sauce with no texture and three floating cherry tomatoes. The ratatouille was the top item on the menu - sliced and seared eggplant and squash in a rich paste covered in an egg. That was delightful and I think maybe $9 or $11. It added up quickly needing to order so much just to avoid having the need for dinner afterward. Nothing knocked our socks off. Cute & fun for a group but ordering drinks at $10-12 per glass - tiniest wine pour we’ve ever had - is going to add up and you can only eat so much cheese. (-: The bread with a smear of spicy tomato was ok but unnecessary and nothing the Teeter bread section couldn’t become with a cutting knife and a jar of marinara. Lacked uniqueness, abundance, & warmth. Once & done.

    Valentines' Day menu was good and very tasty. I would suggest maybe a little mix of vegetables in place of some of the meat and cheese. It was good, but slightly heavy.

    Food was excellent! Loved the olives, grilled mushrooms, empanadas, pistou with fried egg and the flan. Great selection of cocktails and wine. Clever decor with original artwork on the walls. Small place, tight with tables and quite loud when we were there on a Saturday night. There was a misunderstanding between the servers and it was 10-15 minutes before they noticed us to take our drink orders and bring us water. Otherwise, service was good. Parking is a challenge. We may return when the weather is nicer to sit outside.

    My wife and I like the ambience and the food at Mariposa. We like trying different dishes and the small plates offered here make it easy to experiment. Mariposa is on the list of our regularly visited restaurants and would recommend it to anyone who likes to try new foods.

    We came for a date night and were not disappointed. The restaurant is a converted bungalow so the dining room is smaller and intimate. They have an entire outdoor dining area that looks amazing for when the weather warms up. We enjoyed 5 tapas and 2 desserts (definitely more than we could eat). Our favorites were the oxtail empanadas and the charred trumpet mushrooms but nothing was lacking in flavor. Our server was very friendly and made some very good recommendations. Looking forward to returning.

    This was my first time at Mariposa. I have a gluten allergy, but our server was helpful and knowledgeable. The food was delicious, the setting is very cute and the servers/staff were wonderful!

    The presentation was great and the service was amazing. There were three of us. We got the charcuterie board, steak, gazpacho, shrimp, empanadas, and bread with tomato sauce. Everything was beautiful, but I would have liked more options with less chorizo. I didn’t like all of the chorizo, but that’s just my personal opinion. My husband loved them!

    This is the 3rd or 4th time that I have eaten at this restaurant and each time, the drinks are wonderful, the food is sublime and the service is always friendly and helpful. For those of you who are not experienced in the tapas world, The staff is always willing to offer suggestions and explanations to make ordering easier. I highly recommend this restaurant!

    We had a lovely evening. Our waiter was great about bringing our next small plate soon after we finished our previous plate. Had a good time, we could hear each other because it wasn’t too noisy. Thumbs up.

    Definitely recommend this small and interesting tapas restaurant. Service was very good, helpful. Dinner was tasty. Don't be put off by the "small plates" aspect, it's surprising how filling the food is whether shared or not. We were full after a few plates ... not enough though that we couldn't enjoy the great dessert. Keep room. We'll be back.

    We were there on a quiet Monday night, and it was a delicious and delightful experience. This is a small place, in contrast to most dining in Wilmington, and we enjoyed that quality. We had a variety of tapas, meat, fish, vegetable, and they were all flavorful and hot when they arrived at the table.
