Disappointed to have to wait 45 minutes for our table, food was very good but the table of 6 next to us were very boisterous and didn't seem to add to the ambience. Wouldn't be going back
First time at Lu Ban and it was honestly amazing!! Food beautiful, decor and atmosphere really amazing! Would definitely recommend to a friend.
Knowledgable staff, friendly service, very clean, fantastic food.
The food was outstanding and the staff were very knowledgable about the dishes. We will definitely be back.
This restaurant never fails to please, food, staff and atmosphere are just right.
The staff are knowledgeable, professional, courteous and attentive.
The food is very different from the “traditional” Chinese Resteraunt, it is always beautifully presented, a true theatre of food.
Has not taken us long to become regulars!
Outstanding food and service excellent experience would recommend this restaurant to all
This is a great fine dining experience and refreshingly different to your quintessential Chinese Restaurant experience. The food is amazing, service is great, staff are friendly and professional.
DEFINITELY one to visit.
Beautiful restaurant. Delicious and outstanding food. Recommend the pork belly and the cold smoked salmon dish. And the noodles actually. And the duck and celery salad! Excellent service Too. It was a delightful experience and we will return
So glad I watched the episode of masterchef featuring this restaurant or would never have discovered it. Honestly perfect.
This is a lovely restaurant with very nice friendly staff.
We visited for the first time on Saturday.
We ordered the pork dumplings and the lobster , scallopand turbot ones.
We waited a long time and the fish dumplings were bland and tasteless and definitely had no lobster or seasoning.
The pork ones were tasty.
The ? Chop pork with pineapple and veg was nice but the pork was tough and chewy and needed more sauce.
The spicier dish was too hot for me.
The portions are tapas size and too expensive as is the bottled water.
I loved the atmosphere. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The food was so good I visited again with family again the next day. The pork belly, the prawns and the beef dishes were particularly special and I would definitely recommend these. I will be visiting Lu Ban again soon.
Fantastic menu! Menu explained, not over whelming and high standard throughout.
This was our second visit to Lu Ban - we visited the opening weekend and have been desperate to find an occasion to return!
We were greeted by a very friendly hostess, Kayleigh, who remembered us and even our drinks from our first visit. A great and friendly start. Drinks in the bar with hellos and welcome back from various staff - having been so busy, it’s fantastic they recognise returning customers.
The food is out of this world - we ordered 6 each (5 each is probably enough) but try narrowing it down to 5, that’s a challenge!
Favourite is probably still the Cucumber dish or the turbot, or the duck, or maybe the beef - in fact there isn’t one dish I was disappointed by. The kitchen is open so you can see everything going on!
The service is equally what makes this place great, food is outstanding but the service and attentiveness of the staff is second to none - even down to offering to call a taxi, a “thank you for coming back” coffee at the end, absolutely brilliant. This is a must visit if it’s your birthday, anniversary, visiting Liverpool or just want really good food!!
Thank you all at Lu Ban and I will be seeing you again very soon!
Excellent first visit to Lu Ban. Food was superb and overall could not fault the whole experience. A little bit on the expensive side but well worth it
We went at 3.30 on a Sunday so it was very quiet,
The food was really good, we had a set menu but added a few bits on, which was a good idea, because the portions were very little !
The lad Nick who looked after us was lovely.
As we left we had to help ourselves to our coats even though we were given a ticket! The two people on the bar didn’t acknowledge it and we had no farewell off them! We both commented on this.
It’s such a beautiful place and the table service and pre dinner service was good, but it slackened at the end.
Lovely atmosphere, lovely food, excellent service, staff were friendly and very informative.
Beautiful restaurant
A fantastic experience, quite simply superb.
Possibly the best Chinese and the most amazing service! Hoping to go back next week.
Outstanding flavours - every dish served tasted incredibly fresh and combination of tastes and ingredients was fantastic. Unique dining experience with beautifully presented dishes. Highly recommended and a superb wine list to accompany the menu. The service was attentive and informed. Can't wait to go back again!
Michelin star quality food in a warm and relaxing atmosphere.
Service was second to none, very friendly and attentive staff, and lovely decor.
Would like to come again also just for a drink! The best food we have had in a long time, flavours were just something else and there was not a weak dish! The artistry of the desserts was also something I've never experienced and have highly recommended to my friends and family.
Superb unlike any Chinese food every tasted. Prepared with skill and imagination we will be returning.
Amiable and competent service, food was a feast for mouth and eyes alike, the place itself was clean, simple and elegant.
A really lovely and novel dining experience. Service was excellent and staff were both knowledgeable and friendly. The food was an interesting twist on Chinese cuisine and very tasty. The desserts were sensational - not to be missed! We had a lovely evening in a very attractive setting and have already recommended it to friends.
Absolutely brilliant experience staff friendly and welcoming and food was delicious.
Chef took time out to show us around and make sure everything was okay with the meal.
Have to say with the place being so new we where expecting a few teething issues but couldn’t fault anything!
A wonderful atmosphere, great staff and very tasty food. It is reasonably priced. Everyone is really friendly and happy to answer questions about the food if in doubt.
Amazing!!! Best meal in a while. Can’t fault this place at all. Desserts were outstanding.
We visited Lu Ban for our date night, definitely did not disappoint.
The Resteraunt has a lovely atmosphere, the decor is tasteful and relaxing.
Our waitress, Francesca was professional, knowledgable and very attentive. She explained how the menu worked, we decided to order the banquet.
The whole experience was perfect, each small plate was a pure treat, the variety of dishes included where so tasty.
We felt very comfortable and relaxed, no pressure to vacate the table.
Our experience was excellent, we will definitely be making a return visit.
My friends and I were so keen to try Lu Ban but we all came away feeling rather underwhelmed which is such a shame.. On arrival I found the decor rather stark and the seating in the bar area reminded me of a coffee shop rather than a high end restaurant. Our booking was for 8.30pm and although we arrived on time and the bar area was empty, we weren’t shown to our table until sometime after 9pm which was puzzling as the restaurant wasn’t overly busy. Again, I found the environment to be very plain and not to my taste at all. Rather like a library or my office breakout area but each to their own as they say.
I must say that the service was extremely good and the staff very friendly, helpful and eager to please but I don’t think the banquet that we chose, at £39 per head, represents value for money. We were aware that Lu Ban style is fine dining and weren’t expecting plates full of typically Chinese food but the portions were ridiculously small and some of the dishes were rather hit and miss. Highlights were the Crisp Battered Prawns, the Gulao Pork and Beijing Duck but don’t expect to fill yourself up on them as the serving dishes are no bigger than saucers. Lowlights were the Wok Smoked Chicken which was somewhat unexciting, the minute portions of Jasmine Rice which you have to order as an extra and the last course to be served which, rather randomly, was a Chinese mushroom and tofu broth which I don’t think any of us touched. I’ve never finished a banquet with a soup course but then again, I’ve never been to Tianjin !
I would consider coming back and trying the small plates though I suspect you’d need quite a few to fill you up and also, it’s not a place I’d consider for a special occasion which we were celebrating. The whole place seems very low key and understated in my opinion.
Lovely night in Lu Ban, only realised the next day that we didnt get our free Prosecco !!!!
Quite slow to begin with , toilets not clean .
Once the food came it was very good
The service, concept and food presentation is first class. However I found for the price they are charging the food didn’t really wow me. The oyster was tiny. But overall it was a really good experience.
Wonderful fine chinese dining. Great choices and the dessert was amazing. Staff very friendly and knowledgeable
My friend and I were the first to arrive on Friday evening, made to feel very welcome. Lots of staff around so was vastly out numbered. Waitress explained the menu, suggesting 6 plates each. We however picked 8 between us, I'm not a big eater and would rather order more later if needed. The food was stunning, the flavours to die for. We did not order any extra, just a pud between us that had been recommended. If I went with my husband we would possibly order more. During November you get a free bottle of Prosecco.
The restaurant is gorgeous. The menu is unusual, don’t go if you expect chicken fried rice or chow mein. Instead you get various small plates of all different types of food you may not have tried before. Our waitress Jenny was a delight. We will definitely visit again.
Our waiter Nick was amazing! The dessert was beautiful and served by the Head Chef, Dave. Prosecco deal a nice surprise. Dumplings a bit chewy and the soup under-seasoned. But a lovely restaurant and we will be going back to give the dumplings a second chance. Next time we will go for dinner. Fab spacious atmosphere.
What an amazing array of tastes.
The head chef Dave came out and spoke to us after the meal, he was very informative about his journey to create such a culinary masterpiece.
Highly recommended if you like that kind of food
Excellent place for a luxury meal with great food and excellent service. Defo recommend to anyone who loves fresh Chinese food that simply tastes fantastic! We’ll be back.
Lu Ban was an amazing culinary experience, it felt very Michelin star as the level of service was impeccable. We ordered the banquet for 5 people and loved the small tasty dishes and know that when we go back we will know our favourites and know what to order. Also our 11 year old loved the 'little Lu Ban' menu he was made to feel very special and looked after. Will definitely be back
Fabulous food and very attentive & knowledgable staff
