Fabulous food and service. Staff are always lovely as ever and very attentive.
We arrived and received a warm welcome and even though busy soon sat at our table. The food was fantastic and the service matched. Thanks to all at the restaurant and to Open table
Great food and service. Nice choice of menu for Christmas! Thanks a lot
A busy Saturday night which was quite loud but expected. The staff didn't get flustered and coped with a smile.
Would definitely go back as the food was excellent.
Dropping our son at the Uni
Excellent all round- food , service- wine choice and cocktails.
Really lovely evening thank you all.
Booked a table for our wedding anniversary, staff were very helpful and attentive. The food was amazing and the price was reasonable. Would definitely recommend.
Enjoyable meal. We ate from the ‘early doors menu’.
A couple of large parties were in the restaurant and they were quite noisy.
My pasta dish was tasty though not very hot. I sent it back and when returned it was fine.
Lovely meal with excellent atmosphere, oysters were especially good, service was perfect.
I would definitely recommend this restaurant with its authentic wood burning pizza oven.
Service and ambiance of the restaurant was good. However little disappointed with some of the food. The starter of Calabrese Brushetta was very nice. But I was disappointed with my main meal of lasagna. It was hot and fresh but just lacked the taste...I felt it need more herbs and Garlic. Another member of our party had a pasta which I understand should be al dente but this was more than al dente and was quite hard.
Overall it was still a pleasant time, just felt a little disappointed.
Value for money was fine as it we received a discount with it being father day. Service charge was applied and while I appreciate it is discretionary it doesn't make it clear on the bill and I'm sure everyone just pays it at the set figure.
I always tip and value of the Tip depends on my experience so I would have preferred to be able to make the decision myself without just being told its 10%
Would still recommend and if I'm in that area of the City Centre again I would try again, just didn't give me the WOW factor that I need to visit again quickly.
Good service, the food food superb and highly recommend.
Delicious food, and reasonably priced! Nice ambiance and the staff was very friendly. The fish was perfectly cooked and portions were a good size.
Nice place. A bit busy and noisy in the weekends, but that’s Liverpool. Waited 45 min for the table. And we’ve pre-ordered. Not so good....
Was a pure sound date, married her now
Had a great night
Excellent food with excellent service in great company
Great food with really good service. It was a bit noisy due to mothers day. But this created a good atmosphere with a singer too! I love this restaurant and hope to return soon .
Good food and lovely service! I highly recommend it
Excellent food, lovely restaurant - will visit again
Wonderful meal, where everyone left full & praising their meals
Good food and great service, highly recommendable.
Mor or less superb experience. A big and strong 5 of 6 👍👍
We have eaten at il forno many times and are never disappointed. The food, although a bit pricey, is excellent with a very good menu choice. It is cooked well and nicely presented. There is also a good wine selection which is keenly priced.
The staff are also friendly and efficient.
This time, in early January, the restaurant was not too busy which made for a really nice, relaxed meal.
I had booked with Open table on the 30th for my family on New year's eve, for 7.00pm, I was called by someone at restaurant on N Y E, to make sure I would be attending, which I confirmed we would be there, I was then asked if it was possible to amend our booking, to an earlier time slot, but i was not able to do so as I was working , it was also suggested that I should have paid a deposit, but as I had confirmed my booking this would not be necessary. We arrived at the restaurant at 6.55pm, and there was a slight delay as our table wasn't ready, as they had a walk in. The delay was only five minutes or so, we then were seated, near to the entertainment for the evening, I believe our servers name was Roshan, He took our drink order, then once the drinks had arrived, there was a little delay, but then ordered starters and mains, which consisted of 2 foccacia breads, one with tomato and one with mozzarella for our starters, and for the mains 2 lasagna, 1 tagliatelle Bolognese, and one French trimmed lamb. The starters arrived about 15 minutes later, but the mains didn't arrive until 8.40 ish. The only reason they arrived at all was because I queried where our food was, as there was a table in front of us, who had arrived after us and and got their food before we did, it seemed our meals had been forgotten, I would have like to have stayed for desert but because of the delay, we were unable
We've been bringing our nephew and niece here for many years; it's their favourite.
As they've grown older and their palates more sophisticated, it's been great to see them try new dishes.
They've never gone for a "kids' menu" anywhere, so lunches such as this one do become more costly for us - but for a treat, there is nowhere like Il Forno.
Staff are excellent, the menu choice is huge - though with no reduction in quality.
The alcohol-free cocktails were perfect for the kids - and the espresso martini for me was great, too!
Pizza had way too much cheese. Waiter asked if we were enjoying our meals. I said about the cheese and he said that's the way it is, yet my friend had a pizza with less than half the cheese. I've eaten a lot of pizza to know it was too much. The waiter basically told me I was wrong and then smiled and walked away. What's the point in asking if you're enjoying the meal if you just ignore the answer? Then a tip was added automatically to the bill and you have to ask to have it taken off. So then if you ask to have it taken off you're seen as being stingy.. Clearly a trick as most people won't ask to have it taken off so they make tips without having to provide good service.. Defeats the point in it being a tip. Why not just increase prices and not bother with the tip at all!
Lovely friendly Italian , great service , couldn't fought there efforts , great value .
would return. cocktails are thumbs up
The food was exceptional. I felt as if I was in Italy. The dover sole was very good.
Warm welcoming atmosphere, very popular for special occasions, a romantic evening, meeting up with friends and enjoying excellent authentic food at an affordable price. Strongly recommended.
I went alone for a meal early evening, and was made very welcome. Excellent choice and quality.
Our second visit in less than 24hrs. This has always been a family favourite, and it gets better, if anything.
Staff are excellent, the great combination of attentive, without fussing. Nothing is too much trouble, and they help to create a welcoming, warm atmosphere.
I hadn't had ossobuco for a long time; this one, with saffron-infused rice - wow............... It was a huge helping, but I struggled on [!], thankful that I don't have a sweet tooth, so the great desserts tempt other people, never me!
The husband's risotto il Forno [seafood] was superb.
Waiter Stefano's recommendation of wine, when the house white was unavailable - lovely, and perfect with our meals.
£30/head, from an a la carte menu, with wine, is great value; the quality is very high.
This was a special occasion, with our niece and nephew. We've been taking them to this place since they were very little - though we no longer have to lift them up to see the big 'mouth' pizza oven.............
We had to make our 5pm booking an hour later; no problem, we were assured.
Lovely welcome, as always. Great pre-theatre/set menu. Very high quality bruschetta, carpaccio, and lasagne. No space for desserts, but the kids did have two 'virgin' cocktails each: lovingly made mojitos and pina coladas.
Nice when a favourite place is still good; we can make new memories, all wrapped up with the old ones.
[And my husband and I went back the following day, for a romantic lunch!]
Great pasta and cockTAILS. Service was amazing with recommendations to local bars and clubs
Great food, as always, really enjoyed it. Superb staff, very friendly and attentive. Excellent value for money.
Food expensive and not very good .. Will not be returning ..
Lovely lunch with the family. Great food and service. Recommend the Antipasto to share! Tiramisu also delicious. Staff were very friendly and service was brilliant.
Food below standard I would expect Pizza was cold My pasta dish was bland
Great food. Great service from our waiter Stefano. Great atmosphere
Very loud and chaotic environment. The tables were overbooked due to the online booking. Tables so close together you could hear everyone else’s conversations. Waiters had no Customer services skills. Despite asking specifically for a drink - still the wrong one came. Food did not arrive till 1 hour and 40 minutes after table booked. Wrong food arrived than was ordered. The cheek of it all was that despite us complaining the bill at the end still had service charge included which of course was taken off.
Would not think of going here again in the future.
We visited Il Forno for an evening meal on the recommendation of a 'friend of a friend' who knew Liverpool. Duke Street isn't much to write home about, in fact it's pretty run down, but the restaurant is a jewel we otherwise would not have discovered. It's a 'smart' Italian with a fixed menu as well as a wide a la carte range.K
For my work I spend a lot of time in Italy, (Tuscany), and I find the food here to be excellent and authentic. It is the only restaurant in Liverpool I’ve found that stocks Vernaccia on the menu, my wife’s favourite Italian white wine so will always be a winner with her!
The evening was a a great “date night” with great service, lovely food and very pleasant atmosphere.
Highly recommended
