   Food was one note. “Cheese and meat board” only had 3 types of almost indistinguishable salami on it and literal cheese sticks with canned jalapeños. Pork belly was fried to oblivion; tough and dry. Beet salad may have been the best thing

   Little things add up. Server did not bring a spoon with Cappuccino. Fork was soiled. Server did not ask how I wanted my eggs, brought over HARD to go with Shrimp & Grits. Replacement eggs were perfect. Good Drinks. Slow Draft Beer service. Food flavors were excellent.

   The atmosphere was great and the restaurant is beautiful. The food was so good! Instead of plates they use Le Creuset dishes, so cool. The French Toast was delicious, and the Haymaker Breakfast was a great portion size. The beignets were ok but I think a little overrated. Would definitely go back!

   Service slow and disjointed with a lack of information about menu choices provided by staff. VERY average food. We were never offered another drink or dessert. Wouldn't go back!

    Dined at Haymsker NYE for their pre fixe menu. The food was very clearly prepared in advance…nothing tasted fresh, but had the appearance & taste of assembly line food. Very disappointing food and service!

    This was New Year’s Eve and they only had a fixed menu (a few choices of appetizer, entree and dessert), which we knew ahead of time. We have always enjoyed Haymaker and found their food excellent. However, this was a decidedly subpar experience. The food was not particularly hot and we all had the feeling each course had been prepared in advance and was simply slapped on the plate. The she crab soup had absolutely no bits of actual crab and the beet salad was simply some lettuce with a few chunks of beets - neither met our expectations. The salmon was actually quite flavorful, but it was semi-cold and the accompanying potatoes and vegetables were similarly flavorful but lukewarm. I assume this is because it was New Year’s Eve and they were cooking ahead of time to deliver meals quickly, but it did not work very well. Haymaker has been a place I have enjoyed for both dinner and business lunches over the past few years so I did not hesitate to get a table before our New Year’s Eve show with my wife, my brother, my sister and their spouses. But this experience was a letdown and I frankly felt bad that each couple ended up paying $250 (before tip) for this experience.

    The shrimp appetizer was very good, the mushroom toast was a large portion and was decent. I enjoyed the drinks, although it did take about 25 minutes to get our first cocktail. The gnocchi was a very small portion, the gnocchi themselves were a strange consistency, the sauce was very thick and the farro/pumpkin seed toppings tasted stale, which was all disappointing for a $28 dish. Overall I felt the price was too high given the mediocre quality.

    Great food and fun atmosphere. My wife and I had dinner here and just ordered appetizers - they were all so good and we wanted to try a bunch of them. Only quibble was it took forever to get drinks - our server was attentive but the bartenders were super slow - probably all newbies. But would go back for sure!

    Savannah, our server, took good care of us in a relaxing atmosphere. We ordered four small plates: the Snapper Crudo was fiery with tiny portions, the Pork Belly Lettuce Wraps were Melt-in-your-mouth delicious, the Mushroom Toast was wonderfully earthy, and the Shrimp Curry was outstanding! We ended with the Blueberry Bread Pudding - which we would highly recommend!

    Good location but okay food. Got the breakfast and the bacon had liquid smoke flavoring which threw me off. My friends French toast was cold and my other friends fried green tomatoes were also cold.

    Incredibly disappointed. I have been wanting to go to Haymaker and we decided to do a girls’ dinner to celebrate the holiday season, and the service was HORRIBLE. I don’t remember our server’s name because she never told it to us, but she was so slow. We had an 8 p.m. reservation and the first time we saw her was 8:15 (maybe). She asked about ordering apps without asking if we wanted drinks, so we had to ask to order a beverage. She order our apps at that point (the mushroom toast was amazing). Our drinks came after the apps and then it took another 30 mins for her to come back and ask for our mains. Our food came at 9:15. Water refills were non-existent and we had a friend that was pregnant and that is all she was trying to drink. We had to ask for refills more than once. At 9:45 we asked for another bottle of champagne to have with dessert and were told “of course.” Then she came to our table and told us that she couldn’t give us a bottle because last call was at 9:30. She never came by and asked if we wanted one more drink for last call, so we were shocked and declined dessert. To finish our night, she completely messed up our checks. Thankfully we have Venmo. The food was ok, but wasn’t enough to save it and will definitely not be back.

    Went out with colleagues for a business dinner, and we got a variety of meals. There were some tasty standouts, particularly in the appetizers, with the mushroom toast and the Carolina shrimp. However, those two dishes which would barely feed two were priced nearly $40. The entrees were mediocre, at best, and well overpriced for the quality. Fish was not I’m available that night (farm to table restaurant woes, I get it). Limited vegetarian options outside of sides. Pork shank was enormous and cooked well, but minimally seasoned and its farro and squash accompaniments were undercooked. Ribeye at $52 was pretty abysmal, though the mac and cheese was decent. All in all, I don’t think I’d go back.

    Great cranberry mule, good wine recommendation by bar tender. Our server was very attentive. Shrimp app was delicious, mushroom toast was decent, but I was hoping for more flavor. Server highly recommended the pork shank & the ribeye. We ordered both. Bone came out of the pork shank clean & easy, but the flavor was bland, and the bulgar wheat or whatever was accompanying was also super bland and boring. Ribeye left a lot to be desired & was a hefty $52! Might go back for a cocktail, but doubt we’ll go back for food. Too bad.

    It took 30 minutes to get our first and only round of drinks. ( we were there 1.75 hours). The $50 ribeye steak ordered medium rare was well-done. It was less than 1/2 inch thick so probably difficult to get a char and get medium rare. Waiter finally checked on us after 20 mins after receiving our food. I feel our waiter needed more training. Mgr comped steaks and drinks which was appreciated.

    The greeting staff was very pleasant and seated us right away which was great! Ambience was nice, overlooking Romare Bearden park. The food was fantastic — definitely try the French toast and biscuits & gravy. Pricing for the food is reasonable. I highly recommend this spot!

    Had a wonderful time and I our server Neva was the greatest. Explained the concept and history of restaurant, made sure we were aware of upcoming events and the event planning. Drinks and food were delicious.

    Haymaker is fantastic! We were celebrating a birthday with originally 10 guests and Haymaker was able to accommodate our group that grew to 14. The staff was incredibly friendly and attentive. The food was delicious (it’s hard to decide on what to order when it all sounded amazing)! Thank you for helping us to create a great night out!

    We had their two old fashions which were unique and well made. We had the pear salad, fresh pickles, and pork belly lettuce wraps for small plates. I personally didn’t care for the pickles, just spicier than I like. The pear salad and lettuce wraps and ere excellent. Our server Lulu was exceptional and attentive. We split the pork shank large plate which was fall off the bone tender. Definitely recommend.

    While the food itself was acceptable (though some weird choices being made in setting the menu), everything else about our dining experience was disappointing. Despite the fact that other tables were available and we made a reservation that specifically noted it was a special occasion, the table that was “reserved” for us was literally pushed up against the water station so we constantly had waitstaff approaching our table in order to get water pitchers. In addition, the ambience was very strange - the music was very loud and the lighting was very bright. It was almost like they were going for a “hip art gallery” type vibe but it just came off weird. The food itself was prepared well so kudos to the cooks, but the menu was strange. For example, I ordered a $52 ribeye which was absolutely smothered in capers and frankly seemed like the kind of cut I could buy at a grocery store (i.e., choice and not prime). Perhaps that’s why it was covered by the strong flavor of capers instead of letting the ribeye stand on its own. My wife ordered the fish, which was served bone-in and fully intact despite the fact that the waitress specifically said that the head would be removed. This wasn’t an issue for my wife but the fact that the waitstaff doesn’t actually know how their entrees (of which there are only 6-7) are served is not a good sign. While the food itself tasted fine, our final bill was $175 (including tip) for two drinks, about 12 pickled vegetable slices, two entrees, and one dessert. No one should pay $175 for “fine,” especially when nothing else about the restaurant was exceptional or even good.

    The place is gorgeous inside. The drinks and service were excellent! The food was mediocre. The steaks were served in a cast iron dish but it was almost impossible to cut it in this type of dish as the sides of the dish are raised. The steak, at $52 a pop, was flavorless. Two people in our party ordered the steak. The 1/4 chicken was dry and had no flavor at all. The sauce it was served on also had zero flavor and did not complement the dish. The shrimp in curry sauce… First off the curry sauce itself was excellent. The shrimp were very large and served with the heads on…I am completely comfortable eating my shrimp this way, having lived in New Orleans for many years, but it makes NO sense to serve the shrimp totally immersed in a steaming hot curry sauce. Basically I had to fish them out and peel them while burning my fingers to get the heads and shells off only to then dip them back in the sauce. When shrimp are that large you cannot overcook them, they get very mealy. They were mealy. The gnocchi were not good. They were very mushy and cold. There were only about 6 on the dish. We did enjoy the pickles and pickled vegetables and the meat & cheese board. The fries were ok. The Mac n cheese was ok.
