Food was reasonable, service a little average at times but we got there in the end. There is however, a very strong smell throughout the restaurant. It smells of damp/sewerage at times which is particularly unpleasant. The decor could do with a freshen up also.
Food is prepared to a higher standard at other locations.
Enjoyable food and service. Beware, the restaurant is in the basement and there is no phone service. I arrived at 12:20 for a 12:30 reservation and was given a great table for 2 in a rear corner. My friend arrived at 12:30 to be told there was no reservation in my name. We were both unable to contact each other as no messages getting through. I finally left the table at 12:45 to go back to the street so I could get phone service and she had been waiting there trying to contact me, not knowing I was downstairs trying to do the same.
Beautiful Decor, amazing food and friendly service.
Very dissapointed with Fratelli Fresh.
Their food seemed as though it came off a production line.
You expect house made pasta at an Italian Restaurant.
The Crispy Polenta was far from crispy.
The Duck with pappardelle was very lacking in duck and the pappardelle was chewy. The sauce was beautiful though.
All in all Fratelli Fresh had the feel of a "franchised Restaraunt" all over it
The venue itself was great. I prob won't go back evaluate service was terrible
We dined over the Easter break and the service was friendly (although slow at times) and the food pretty good. My partner had the penne which unfortunately was cold in the centre and my gnocchi was only warm. As it was a special occasion we didn't say anything as my guests would have been embarrassed.
The ambience was great and the staff friendly and even though we had a great time I don't think I'd ever bother going again.
I feel Fratelli Fresh has lost the edge it once had in the early days.
The noise was so unbearable I was screaming, literally, at my guests so they could hear me.
The quality of the food has deteriorated dramatically, the menu has changed, the food is over priced and it is no longer the fantastic venue it used to be.
Unfortunately we waited over an hour for our food to arrive, and once it arrived it lacked a lot of flavour!! We all ordered the duck pappardelle and literally had about one mouthful of duck in the whole dish - the rest of it was just pasta! No dark chocolate or orange flavouring like the menu suggested. A real shame as I was excited to eat here!
Dark, cosy atmosphere underground. Old-school gangster feel. Service is terrific, and food is moreish and at a reasonable price. Great spot for an overcast or chilly day.
We went to FF for a farewell lunch for one of our work colleagues. She had always wanted to dine at FF so it was her choice and we were very happy to go there. The atmosphere was lovely; it had a very 'special occasion' feel. The service was exceptional. I would've liked the Gelato to have been served in a dish other than a paper cup though. It didn't seem to fit in with the classy style of the restaurant.
A great casual eatery with good quality Italian food.
Have been here twice with the girls from my work, and we have all been really happy with the quality of food and service so far. Their tiramisu is to die for, and is the perfect way to end your meal.
Amazing experience and lovely hospitality for the service staff, food was lovely
excellent all round
The staff were very friendly and attentive, the food was great and the main meal prices are reasonable. The price of the entrees is a bit pricey in comparison to other restaurants but to be fair the quality of the food was definitely there.
I love fratelli fresh, and in my opinion this is the best one (also been to bridge st and Walsh bay)
We had a great night - nice food and wine, and also great friendly service
Lovely food, cosy and sophisticated decor. However, they offered bread or olives to start (prior to looking at the menu), which would normally be considered complimentary in that context, but we were charged $8 for olives. We were charged $9.50 for still water (2 ppl) when asked if we would like "sparkling or still" - no mention of brands, bottles or prices. In most restaurants 'still' is considered tap water and is free. I objected and they removed it from my bill but were a bit rude about it.
Exceptional food and very friendly staff
Delicious food, nice atmosphere, great service.
Great food loved the cocktails would certainly make another booking.
Very reliable eatery with fresh, tasty and imaginative menu, marred only by the desserts arriving separately with a long wait for each. Disappointingly, the lemon sorbet -- a staple Italian dish -- was sold out by 8.30pm. The sweet dumplings with an exotic description turned out to be sugar coated donuts with a jug of molten chocolate on the side -- fine for breakfast, but less so to end an evening meal. Otherwise would have marked higher.
Good food although was not that impressed by some of the stodgy starters (dough balls are just small bread rolls) and lack of options for vegetarians! Still service was good and pasta dishes very fresh and yummy. My complaint would be the state of the female toilets which were filthy. They had a bad smell, many cubicles were out of toilet paper and the rubbish bins were overflowing onto floor with used hand towels. Really need to get onto that as it is such a bad look for a place serving food.
On a Thursday night the place was very busy. We had booked for 11 but had 14 and they were able to accommodate us easily and without a fuss. The food was excellent and very good value for money. The service when we could get their attention was great, however with it being so busy, it was frustratingly hard to attract someones's attention. We would definitely go there again.
Chicken salad was delicious however the cost for 2 chicken salads 2 glasses of sparkling wine and 2 coffees was over $80.00 which is ridiculous.
It also took a long time to order and we sat and waited to be served for almost 40 minutes.
Well this is a sad review to write, we have dined regularly at all Fratellis in Sydney in particular we like Bridge Street and Parlamentos. Yesterday we had the worst meal ever. 3 of us ordered a rocket salad and 3 lamb ragu 2 bottles Rose. The pasta was very dry, little lamb and next to no sauce making it very dry. This is very unlike meals served up to us regularly at FF. We huge fans and walked out dissappointed. Not sure what has happened but I hope it is rectified shortly.
A good meal but has definitely lost something under the new ownership. I miss the blackboard menu particularly. The beer also is high priced. Service was fine and ambiance is excellent.
Friendly staff with great service and great food. Would definitely recommend to others.
Lovely evening and service the girl who served was very nice and helpful
You pose thto question "What made my dining experience so special ?" Well, it definitely was not special. In simple terms, we were served average food that was expensive. The worst aspect by a massive margin is the waiting staffs obsession with appearing at the table every 5 minutes to hawk more water desperately. It ruins the whole experience in the pursuit of profit.
I would never return and never recommend the place.
Always a reliable good feed at Fratelli Fresh. The Parlimento site is a little quiet on a Sat night (half full).....I think its busy with suits during the week.
Reasonable value for money too!
The salad was the most expensive thing on the menu $24 + $9 for chicken. The salad was so basic, tasteless and I had to hunt for the chicken. Very dissapointed. My friend had pasta with ragu and it was also tasteless.
And $80 lunch - felt ripped off.
Conversation difficult because of the extreme noise level. Two of the party of five ordered pizza which arrived approximately 50 minutes after the other meals. When we suggested that we should not be charged for them, to his credit, the head waiter agreed. The food was very average. Don't order the overpriced gelato which came in little, plastic, lidded "cups" of the type I'd expect from a seaside kiosk rather than a restaurant.
Food good and ambience good. Disappointed that when the waitress spilt wine into my lap all that was provided was a replacement zucchini flower which was also covered in wine. I now have the dry cleaning bill for my suit.
This was my first time at Fratelli Fresh Macquarie St though I've dined at their Bridge St location and Cafe Sopra in Alexandria many times before. As I've come to expect, both the food and service were fabulous and the relaxed and cosy ambience was wonderful. Fratelli Fresh is fantastic value for money.
The service was excellent and efficient. The food came out quickly which was a good thing since we were on a lunch break. We had pasta and pizza dishes to share and everything tasted really good particularly the vegetarian linguine and prosciutto and funghi pasta.
I have been eating at this Fratelli Fresh now for over a year. I have historically eaten at multiple Fratelli venues and have held events and personally dined at multiple Urban Purveyor venues. I work very close by and quite often bring my clients to dine at Fratelli given I have always believed it is high quality food. The service was poor, it took about 25 minutes to be served our drinks and then our meals came out over a 20 minute period. One of the dishes were frozen in the middle and anothe
Great food, great wine, great company and good service. Our waitress was fab and left us all feeling better than when we arrived.. This is what casual dining should all be about.
Excellent restaurant. Tables are a bit close together
