A gem of a restaurant. We all loved our pasta dishes and my girls both said that their dinner was amazing. We all loved the style of the restaurant and the chef was not only kind and funny but clearly an amazing cook.

We left the experience feeling thoroughly well-fed and also very cultured! We learnt a lot about Florentine wines and foods, and very much enjoyed the group that we were part of. It was a great way to end our trip to Florence.

Delightful dinner! Monica is a gem! So sweet and thoughtful. The pasta was melt in your mouth delicious! And probably the best chicken liver pate i’ve ever had! Definitely a repeat next time in Florence

Beautiful little place with amazing food and the sweetest people. Server did not speak much English, but she was adorable and accommodating and very patient with us. The chef in house was English speaking, so any problems we did run into were cleared up. One of the best dinners I have ever had

This restaurant was a very lucky find for us and we were able to book a table. The hostess/Waiter/Owner was great to talk with and very helpful in introducing her food to us. The flavors of the food was phenomenal and the sauce on the pasta had lots of umami. Very fresh salad, and great appetizers to share. We were introduced to a local soup, that is made with bread and had no liquid, but taste was so good, like a stuffing. The bruschetta was great to share and the pate had a really balanced taste. Pasta's perfect and the desert which was a knock off on apple strudel with gelato to die for. We would have gone back if we had more time in Florence!

This is a great place for authentic food. Swordfish is best I’ve ever had and that is saying a lot! The whole experience is just top notch. Loved the pasta dishes too. Monica is the smiling face to great you and take care of you. She actually serves you and don’t be fooled she also is the owner. Ate here twice on short stay. Loved it!!

Hier wird man als Gast äußerst warmherzig und zuvorkommend umsorgt. Das Essen war ebenso gut. Für uns ein echtes Juwel zwischen all den Touristen-Locations. Absolut empfehlenswert.

My second review - we were in Florence only 2 nights and had reservations for our wedding anniversary at a very popular roof top terrace restaurant but after dining at Demetra Hostaria with Monica the night before we knew we had to go back. Luckily we were able to get a table and had the most fabulous meal once again. Monica made us feel like family. Everything was superb. This night we had vegetable flan and the soup, followed by spinach ricotta gnudi and tagliatelle with duck ragu. Our mains were the chicken and pork loin. For dessert we had panacotta, and apple crumble. Each dish was delicious and perfectly prepared. Thank you so much for making our evening so special. We will definitely be back!! (I tried to post some photos but was unable)

I booked this at the last minute due to a scheduling conflict with the restaurant at our hotel and it was nothing short of amazing! Everything was superb and perfectly prepared. We had the soup of the day, gnocchi, beef stew and apple crumble. My husband said it was the best meal he’s had out in years. I highly recommend.

The moment we entered from an almost empty side street, the experience was wonderful. The simplicity of the gnocchi with tomato and cheese was one of the best ever. The hearty meat stew was full of strong flavor and delicious. Our server, Monica I believe, was absolutely delightful. This restaurant is a hidden gem that I hesitate to write about for fear it will become “discovered by the masses!” But if you’re reading this, definitely go!

We had just arrived at Firenze and couldn’t get into the handful of places reco’d by our airbnb hostess and came across Demetra, which could take our party of five on short notice. It also was only 2 blocks from our apartment. It is very old school and traditional in appearance, very fitting for the area. We could only see two employees, so a tight run operation. Nonetheless the service sped along and we never felt like we had to wait excessively for food or wine service. As we could only speak limited Italian we appreciated that the server and chef worked patiently with us to communicate the menu options. All in all a nice evening,

Our 25th anniversary! What a beautiful authentic family restaurant in Florence. The woman, who we assume was the owner, was a sweet a honey and nice as can be. Loved everything from the bruschetta to dessert. We would go again!!

There are not enough superlatives to describe this restaurant. It was an enchanting experience with our host and server orchestrating a memorable meal. There were four of us who each ordered different selections. Nothing was disappointing. The restaurant's ambience was low-key and lovely as well. In spite of the fact that we were visiting Florence in the midst of a terrible heatwave, the restaurant was adequately cooled and relaxing. I most definitely will keep track of this restaurant and look forward to my return visit.

One of the best meals we’ve had in Italy. Everything had amazing flavor - a great showcase of antichi sapori. Monica was so warm and welcoming and made us feel like we were eating at our home. Great gem amongst an area filled with tourist traps

Terrible experience, restaurant doesn’t really taste italian, there was a large group which took all the attention of the waitress and the maitre d’ Bread is flavorless, gnocchi undercooked, no beef on the menu Wine selection was good. We made it clear to the waitress that we did. It like the experience and they did nothing about it

We are very sorry to hear that you did not enjoy your evening. In general our guests leave feeling like they are part of the family having had an experience that is rare to find in other restaurants. We would like to clarify that we do not serve Italian food but exclusively Florentine and Tuscan dishes. In fact the reason that the bread is 'flavorless' is because for centuries it has been made without salt. We take all feedback seriously as a way to constantly improve our service and experience.

I had booked at a Michelin Star restaurant and at the last moment found this jewel of a trattoria while walking to the restaurant We cancelled the previous restaurant and we’re bewildered by the love and care owner Monica and her chef put into every last detail. Food is naturally and locally sourced you will not be disappointed

You can’t go wrong eating here! The service we had here was our best we had our whole 12 day vacation in Italy. They are very attentive and make sure you have everything you need throughout the whole dinner. The place itself is adorable on a side street near the Duomo. Casual and date night too! 10/10
