Seated quickly, waiter was kind. Ordered drinks & tried their famous cornbread. Very delicious. Dinner was ordered and arrived fairly quick. Overall a nice atmosphere in a historic setting. Will be back.

Food and service were very good. My family has been coming here for years. The main issue was that I had made this reservation one month prior and had asked to be seated in Merchants Row. When we arrived, the staff told us that we could not be seated in that dining area. This was very disappointing as that was the reason I had made the reservation one month in advance, so we could be seated in the area that my family has dined in for years.

Everything was lovely- my only complaint was that the chicken & salmon were very dry/overcooked- maybe from sitting in the heated tray. The prime rib was excellent as was the shrimp & all the breakfast food. We did skip the desserts as we were too full- maybe next time. Other than the chicken/salmon, everything was wonderful & we will be returning. Charming decor & the service was wonderful.

Dining al fresco at this historic inn is always a pleasure especially on a warm spring day. Service was prompt despite a crowd. Food was delicious.

We love the Colonial Inn and have enjoyed many special dinners and brunches here. This time was odd. We had an 8 pm reservation. We arrived at 8 - some of our party arrived earlier and were already seated with menus, which was good. However, our waiter came, took our drink order, and then around 8:15 told us the kitchen was closing at 8:30. We rushed to get our order in - having to choose different items than we wanted because several things were out. They delivered our apps and entrees at the same time. This was a special occasion and we felt so rushed! Why book so close to closing? Or there was something very wrong with staffing. I hope this was a one-off. Food was still delicious but the experience wasn’t good.

We had an excellent meal sitting outside. A memorable evening as the patriot flute players scenaded us from the square across the street. I thoroughly recommend Colonial Inn for dinner.

I had made the reservation for afternoon tea. Upon arrival I was told afternoon tea was no longer serving tea which was a huge disappointment. The restaurant needs to update their website to reflect this change!!! The food was good but seating on the porch was nice but too noisy from the street traffic.
