   Overall my husband and I loved the vibe and the food was great! Lucas at the bar was wonderful and attentive. Our server, JJ was kind and helpful. One minor negative was that my walleye still had a number of bones, so some bites were not pleasant due to those, but the flavor of the dish was still delicious. Also this one minor negative would not deter us from ever visiting again nor from us recommending Buttermint to friends and family. We very much enjoyed our experience and all the dishes we ordered (even with the extra bones). Thank you Buttermint and staff.

   This is a nice place with great atmosphere. The food is good, but a bit overpriced. The homemade butter mints at the end of the meal are a nice touch. The music selection is great and from the time period of the restaurant, but it’s a bit too loud to not be distracting over conversation.

   Overall, we had a good experience at Buttermint. We went during a time that was probably less busy than usual - 5:45 pm while the NCAA Tournament was in full swing - so we got right in and the service was incredibly fast. The food was overall good, not excellent, but the service more than made up for that. Menu is somewhat limited, but the dishes they do have are executed generally well and the presentation is very well done.

   I was looking for a fish fry without the Irish Pub chaos and this place didn’t disappoint. The Walleye was done to perfection. Our waiter JJ was attentive, funny, and friendly. We also received a surprise juice shot which caught us off guard— it was delicious and refreshing. The ambience was nice , sleek and modern, and the dessert at the end had incredible presentation. The five-spice ice cream was incredible, and the butter mints and the end were very smooth.

    The service is warm and friendly without being irritating. The ambiance is fun and inviting. The calamari appetizer is really delicious. The dessert (miso caramel tart) was amazing. But the mahi mahi entree was a disappointment, particularly at the $27 price point. The fish was dry and a bit overcooked on the outside. The polenta cake beneath it seemed not to have been seasoned and was very bland. Much of the flavor of the dish came from the sauce and glaze that had been applied decoratively around the outside of the plate; if one forgot to dip, one got a somewhat dry, flavorless bite. The dish could benefit from moisture and perhaps application of the sauce to the fish and polenta, rather than using it as a decorative element.

    The premade drinks were very good. The crispy chicken wasn’t bad for happy hour pricing. The steak was a little expensive and not very flavorful, maybe because it was overcooked. Service was great and they were more the willing to make our dining experience better.

    We went for brunch on a Sunday. This was our first time here--visiting gkids from out of state. Everything was really good. The waffles and main eggs/meat/toast/potato dishes were especially tasty. And don't forget those donuts to start off the morning!

    Went for my birthday. Our waitress was very attentive and spot on with her timing. Food was delicious. I especially enjoyed the whitefish. My husband enjoyed the salmon. Provided a tasty dessert at the end of our meal. The people beside us were sort of loud with their conversation, which they haven’t any control over. Our tables were closer than some others. However, we will go back for another occasion sometime.

    We were disappointed by our meal at Buttermint. The ambience was warm and inviting, and the service was excellent. The meal was meh. The fried chickpea app was good, with a sauce that was spicy but lacked nuance. We did not like the swordfish skewer app at all. The pork entree and pesto pasta meal were OK. It was a lovely place, but we will not return.

    Our server was so friendly and knowledgeable! She made great recommendations too! I was with a friend catching up and our server picked up on that and worked with the kitchen to slow the pace of the meal, they split our dishes that we wished to share and made us feel comfortable. On a Friday night, we didn’t feel rushed! Great service!

    This place advertises as an updated 1950’s supper club type restaurant. The decor is 2023’s version of 1950’s. Music choices were all over the place and a bit loud. We were seated and given menus upon arrival and our server appeared to take drink orders shortly after. We ordered drinks and then waited quite a while for the server to return to take our food order. We split a Brussels sprouts salad, which was plenty for two, and had two entrees- mahi-mahi and walleye. The food was very tasty and portion sizes were good. The restaurant provided a palate cleanser after the salad -an apple, ginger, lemon, and cucumber juice. Overall, we had an enjoyable dinner. We would have preferred a more accurate 1950’s supper club soundtrack and a less abrupt server, but otherwise it was fine. Some of the prices were a bit high-$9 for bread and $23 for a fried chicken drumstick and thigh meal- but most were in line with what you’d pay at other higher-end restaurants in the city. Considering it’s references to 1950’s dining, the menu was surprisingly light on steaks, with only one offering.

    The atmosphere was really pleasant, and so was the service. Our n/a drinks and appetizers were excellent! Our entrees were good but we had already filled up so we saved them for another wonderful meal — and order dessert. We both enjoyed all and look forward to returning.

    Great brunch. Was hard to decide, but I enjoyed the smoked fish cake Benedict. The soft boiled eggs were perfectly prepared, and the smoked fish was delicious.

    Food was mediocre at best. The mahi mahi with polenta had little to no flavor, with an overpowering olive sauce on the side. At this price point, service should be prompt. Manager noticed we hadn’t been given water or menus yet 15 minutes after being seated and comped us drinks. Didn’t really make up for the poor service we continued to receive, or the flavorless, average food we received. Will not return.

    Our meal took over three hours. Multiple dishes came out cold , always had to ask for our drinks more than once. Food was very good, but service was terrible.

    Very enjoyable experience, the staff was excellent. Smoked Sturgeon toast was one of the best apps I have had. The Iowa Pork chop cooked medium rare with a calvados reduction was wonderful.

    My wife and I dined there twice, including Valentine’s Day last night, and both times had an exemplary experience. Definitely one of the top restaurants in Milwaukee—or anywhere. Everything was perfect.
