   We made a reservation on OpenTable. When we arrived we were informed that OpenTable ‘wasn’t working’ and we could wait an hour for a table. Very disappointing.

   Food was great, service was not. We were one of only a handful of tables at the time. There were multiple servers working even though it was slow. We were in a corner which I did appreciate however we rarely saw our server. We never got our appetizer and couldn’t get more drinks ordered. After our meal was done our server did come back and ask if we wanted more drinks. They were also out of multiple items on the menu but we weren’t informed until we tried to order the items and then the server said oh I think we’re out of that… French fries were one of the items they were out of. Maybe you tell us before we look at the menu when you’re out of French fries.

   It was a basketball game night, but the place seemed short-staffed. The food was good, there seemed to be some confusion as what was available, as a result of it being game night.

   It was my daughter’s 17th birthday and we had a family get together. The waiter, bartender and staff were super nice and accommodating not to mention super friendly. Appetizers, entrees, desserts and cocktails were excellent. We were able to make a reservation and enjoyed the free valet parking.

   Went NYE and ate at On The Hill. The aioli shrimp appetizer was wonderful. For mains we had the KC strip the gnocchi bolognese. Both were well-prepared and tasty. The wine list was short, but some nice choices at reasonable prices. We enjoyed a French Syrah. Service was very good, and all the staff were very friendly.

    Had a reservation Afro 7:15 and sat down at 8:30 PM. Several open tables including 2 long tables. The manager walked away and said I needed to speak with the hostess. None of the hostesses knew what to do and I still don’t know what was going on. The staff was kind and finally accommodating but I would not work for the manager. They are the only gig on campus and it’s too bad. They need some competition.

    The worst dining experience ever. The service was ridiculously bad. We waited 40 mins and complained to other waiter that we need to be helped and nobody help. The food was almost as bad as the service.

    Took family to enjoy The Oread, views from the Nest, the tribute to dogs and explore breakfast and lunch options. Great breakfast selections including their various egg Benedict options and bacon infused waffles. Lunch included a tasty chicken carbonara, numerous classic sandwiches and salads. Tried the citrus grilled chicken which touched the right notes with strawberries, blueberries, mandarin oranges, pineapple and candied pecans. Happy to return for the limestone ambiance and variety of good food. Will check out the fried pickles and queso next time.

    Very good atmosphere and all the waitstaff and employees were friendly and courteous, the food was amazing and we had very fast service and price was very affordable. We will definitely recommend Bird Dog Bar and will be back.

    We thoroughly enjoyed our visit. I had eaten at the Bar while my daughter attended KU a few years ago but hadn't visited since. Brought friends and we felt that the quality and prices were awesome! We'll be back. Took a quick peek of the Nest while we were there. Had another concert to attend so didn't stay this time. Will look for a band to come back and enjoy with drinks some weekend down the road.

    The bar has valet parking which is very nice and it's very large to accommodate big groups. Inside the Hotel it's very cool Old Stone work nice bar to have drinks at and watch games too.

    We went to On the Hill for Christmas Eve. Expected it to be busy but it wasn't. We were sat at 6:30 and our food did not come to the table for almost an hour. We were told that the kitchen was backed up. Totally understandable if you don't have a full staff and it was a holiday. Not a big deal. When our food arrived, it was warm at best. I don't mind waiting that long but the food should be hot. All three of our meals were cold. Terrible.

    My family was in town visiting. The food was great, the server was fast, and the manager came out flying a huge helium Shark drone for Shark week....he was really fun and entertaining. We have always enjoyed dining here. It was neat to go to the 8th floor and look out over the KU campus and the football field.

    This evening my wife and I had the displeasure of eating at the Bird Dog Bar in the Oread Hotel. What was supposed to be a relaxing dinner was anything but. I asked for a glass of merlot and our waitress looked at me dumbfounded, finally she asked if this was a wine! I ordered the Salmon with a teriyaki glaze, they forgot the teriyaki and the salmon was severely overcooked. At the end of the main course the waitress gave us the bill, didn’t ask if we wanted coffee or dessert, and just walked away. We decided, rightly or wrongly, that rather than make a scene we would pay the bill and would just never frequent this place again. Also, it was strange that we were not given a guest (second) copy of our credit card receipt for our records. On the way out the door they started to vacuum the restaurant even though it was still dinner service and the place was mostly full. I told the hostess that I could not believe they started vacuuming during dinner hours! Imagine my surprise when I got home and found out that my credit card had been charged for a 20% tip even though I had left 15%. I called the restaurant told them my concern, asked for a manager and waited on the phone for 10 minutes. Finally I was told there was no manager available even though 2 were on staff when we left; I left a message with the hostess and asked them to have a manager call me. It is now an hour and a half later, I called back and was told that a manager was still not available. I informed the hostess that I was planning to post a negative review if I did not hear back in 10 minutes. One minute later he called back! I decided to post this as a warning to future patrons. This place is a disaster, do not waste your time here!!!

    When we arrived they did not have any record of our reservation. I received an email from Open Table to confirm our reservation then another email asking for me to confirm. On The Hill is a small Italian restaurant in a large hotel on the campus of the University of Kansas. The hotel manager got on his phone and could see our reservation yet the maitre d’ did not look at or not have access to Open Table. He was completely booked.but we were seated at a table off to the side in an overflow/storage area. Once seated we were not greeted by a wait staff. We could see the maitre d’ and a couple of staff “arguing” over who would wait on us. After 10 minutes of still not being waited on, we left. I was very disappointed as I had been wanting to try this new restaurant. How can a restaurant be on Open Table yet not access any reservations made!?! It is not 100% the fault of Open Table yet it does not create confidence.

    Wonderful ambiance, food, wine, and service! Wasn't very crowded on a weeknight. The owner greeted us, told us about the menu, talked to us about our wine preferences, and recommended a bottle that was perfect for both our tastes. Had the pork and it was perfectly done!

    Great place to watch KU basketball. Super fun crowd mix of students and townies. Great service and food. If you haven’t been to Bird Dog in a while I suggest you check it out. They have really stepped up their game !

    Ate at On The Hill with friends from out of town. Wanted to go somewhere new and interesting, so was hoping this would be the place. It delivered. The food was so good! Not knowing what to expect, we were more then thrilled.
