Loved it! Great food and atmosphere. Busy vibe. On the water.
Lovely ambiance, delicious food. A bit pricey, but well worth it.
An extraordinary experience. Was showing off the beautifully redeveloped Old Town Waterfront to friends in from Hong Kong. After all that nasty fighting, a true miracle. Barca is the ultimate expression of everything great that’s happened down there. To sit out in the river is a fantastic experience. The food is wonderful and the service, just perfect. It’s a hotspot so be sure to make a reservation!
Great location to have a bite on the water in Old Town. Food good and reasonable and setting can’t be beat.
Food was delicious and ambience was very nice sitting out on the pier.
Came for my birthday dinner with a some friends. The food was excellent! We got Tzatziki, Prime Beef Tenderloin, Stuffed Piquillo Peppers, Wild Mushrooms, Pescado Frito, Gambas al Ajillo, and Papas Bravas along with a couple bottles of wine. The plates are small, but filling, definitely enough for the 5 of us. Our server wasn’t great, but one of the hosts took her time to make sure the picture she took of the group turned out well. Overall a good experience and will definitely be returning.
What a gorgeous spot. What uninspired food. What indifferent service.
The food was great and service attentive. Our server was very helpful with recommendations for tapas and we enjoyed each dish. The tzatziki is not to be missed. Outside venue is excellent.
Great food & drinks. Excellent service. Thank you.
There's reason this place is so popular. We had a birthday celebration here and everything was phenomenal. The only thing I argued with my husband about was which tapa was the best. For a 'wine bar' they don't have much selection, but the wine we did have was satisfactory.
We continue to be completely spoiled by the waitstaff snd chefs at Barca. The drinks are just delicious too.
Great food! Exciting location -- right ON the water. Enough parking opportunities available.
Despite the cool breeze coming off the river, temperature "inside" the restaurant was comfortable due to the efficient, clear windbreaker walls surrounding the restaurant. Distance between tables was good.
The only negative was the distance to the room of bath.
I will return to Barca Wine Bar again.
Went for lunch and really enjoyed the waterfront location. The food was all excellent and came out in a jiffy, it’s one of those places that bombards you with food but we didn’t mind since we were hungry. The music was way too loud! I would have preferred to listen to the waves lapping the pier with the music in the background but that was not possible at 85 decibels. Our server was very energetic, polite and attentive. He gave great recommendations but unfortunately they were out of a few items he was raving about so that was a bit of a letdown but luckily there were plenty of other items on the menu to try and they were all delicious. Overall we had a bottle of bubbles, 3 tapas and split a sandwich and the bill was only $78.00. Not bad for Alexandria. Will definitely be back!
Spanish Tapas, very tasty food. Needs more gluten free options.
Small plates but yummy. Great boats and river scene
What a delight!
When you have a setting as great as Barca, right on the river, sometimes you can't help but wonder if the food and service will live up to the setting.
For our lunch, everything was aces. From the warm welcome and service throughout by our server, to the wonderful flavors of all of the dishes we tried, there wasn't a missed note throughout.
I've had the good fortune of eating at a lot of nice places, and this was in the top tier of experiences.
A lovely brunch. We could all hear each other which was all important to us for this farewell event for a dear friend. And we were graced with the sighting of 2 bald eagles circling overhead.
Cameron was wonderful. Made our experience really fun. Food was great. The mushroom dish is amazing.
Only a few brunch options, but they were really good.
Service is great and food is ok. The view is great but nothing food wise stood out.
Everything was perfect. The food and ambiance were both outstanding. Service was wonderful. We will definitely be back again!
Second time here, and definitely won't be the last. Everything about Barca is great -- food, service, atmosphere. Feels like a treat every time.
Great views right on the Potomac. Good food at boot
Perfect place for a date night!
Loved everything about it. Found pricing for some tapas dishes a bit expensive for size. Quality of food was great.
This was our umpteenth time dining at Barca. We love the Spanish-style tapas & outdoor, riverside seating. Everything was delicious: mushrooms, goat cheese, shrimp, & more. MacKenzie was awesome, too. We miss Alex at the boat dock, but send congrats his way on his new job!
Wonderful setting right on the water. Food was excellent and the wine choices were good. Server was nice but not outstanding but that seems to be the case everywhere. I would definitely go back.
The food was fabulous! Authentically Spanish Tapas were yummy.
Fabulous lunch spot with girlfriends! Tapas were delicious! McKenzie was our server & she was so sweet! Will definitely be back!
Server was attentive and cheerful, thank you !! however food was ok. Octopus was not boiled enough cook. Menu is weak ! I was trying all the summer for make a reservation for this restaurant so for what..
Everything was great as always. Barca is such an amazing addition to life in Old Town.
My wife and I have been wanting to try Barca for a while, finally managed to get a table. Lovely setting on the Alexandria waterfront, we ate at the outdoor "boat" which is right out on the dock. Tapas were wonderful, some of the best we've had in the area. The Pescado Frito was particularly noteworthy, other traditional dishes (Papas Fritas, Gambas) were on par. Their specialty cocktail list was interesting, if a bit on the fruity side, would've liked to have seen a few more spirit-forward choices but the back-bar looks solid enough to be able to craft a decent Old Fashioned or Martini if desired. Bill came to about $100 for the two of, a little on the high side but not unexpected given Barca's popularity and buzz. Definitely planning to revisit to try more of their tapas selections.
This is a beautiful location. We've been here twice. The first time the food and service was great. The last time the food was not very good and the service was pretty bad. We waited about 40 minutes for our drinks and never received one of the tapas we ordered. Nevertheless, the location out on the water can't be beat.
Barca is in the perfect location, the ambience is unmatched! And the food is delicious. I had the garlic chicken sandwich, YUMM!!
Our fourth meal at Barca in a month. Obviously we like the place. It's a really fun place for lunch and dinner. A wide variety of small plates exquisitely prepared Mexican style and easily shared with 3 or 4 at the table. The "front of the house" staff are cordial and friendly. Servers are helpful and very knowledgeable of every offering on the menu; service is prompt and efficient, and a server is always near by. The pier over the Potomac River shoreline is a perfect spot, offering an unequaled view of the Alexandria and DC waterfront landscape. Nothing in the DC-northern Virginia area that compares. We'll be back many more times.
Terrible service, overpriced mediocre food and very small portions even for tapas. Had to waive the server over twice.
The food and ambience was fantastic. The breakfast patatas bravas were excellent. Stuffed peppers, pork sandwich, and croquetas were great too. Drinks were nice. Pricing is what one expects at such a place.
The view is great, as this restaurant is located OVER the water.
They were out of the goat cheese, which was surprising as it was just 3pm and they are open till night.
It was rather hot at our table and we asked to be moved, but they could not accommodate it due to another reservation at a shaded table (I did not know we could specify the table while reserving online).
Overall, I would definitely visit this place again.
extremely ordinary… not worth the hype
We celebrated our 15th wedding anniversary with a table by the water. We had a great time.
Great location. Food was very good, but the menu is limited. Enjoyed each item we ordered. Music is very loud. Hard to have a conversation. We asked the staff to turn the music down and they did without hesitation. Unbelievable location on a nice day. Will definitely be back.
