Wonderful experience with a good friend of mine. Tyler our server was patient as my friend and I caught up and was knowledgeable about the menu and answered all my inane questions about the school which I was interested in because as an Architect I design many restaurants. Margaret came by our table I believe 3 times to check on us. We never felt rushed and we had the lamb.. the best I’d ever had. Also the Grouper/Shrimp was delicious but I lived in Florida and was all excited to get a nice thick fillet and a couple prawn size shrimp but that wasn’t the case. The pieces were too small to taste the fish. I wouldn’t have breaded them although it was a light tasty coating. I still enjoyed it but I wish I would have chosen something else or asked Tyler about the preparation of the dish.. my bad. Chocolate cheesecake delicious. Oh the mustard based salad dressing was really good. The pea soup was really good but a bit bland but I’m used to having ham in one I make. I would nix the croutons they weren’t necessary. This New Years Eve dinner was our first time at Johnnys and we couldn't have been more pleased. Our server Paige was very attentive, spaced the courses just right, and gave us some great recommendations. Everyone including the manager and bus boy were very helpful. We had an enjoyable experience with tasty food, our own little room, and a fun server (Patrick) - until the bill came. We have no doubt that we were taken advantage of. There were four of us adults and a two-year old. We were admittedly sloppy when we ordered the apple gorgonzola salad, as we were brought a large that supposedly serves five. It cost $30 and there was enough for six or seven as it was a side, not our entee. We should have specified that we wanted a small. Likewise, $12 for a side of green beans seemed a bit high. That portion size was about right for four adults. The large brownie sundae that they offer for birthdays and serves about six is a lot of fun and you get that with a coupon anyway. My suggestion is that you keep in mind that the portions are huge. If you order something like chicken breasts, you can judge portion side as each person will get one, but if you order a pasta dish that comes in a bowl, assume you'll get a lot of food. We'll be back, but we'll probably skip the sides and order small portions instead of large portions. If it's not enough food, we can always order more. We'll definitely make sure we're clear in what we want. More
