Just ate at Acre for the first time. We had the fried olives and they were delicious-a must order. I don’t like olives but loved these. Sandwiches are excellent-not cheap but high quality. We will go back again to dine in the upstairs restaurant.

I've lived in the East Bay for a loooong time and never visited the Claremont. We ate on the outside patio, looking out to San Francisco, on a beautiful summer evening. The view was spectacular (though bring a hat for the sun). The tables are well spaced, there's no loud music,, so it very easy to converse. The food and cocktails were terrific too, and the staff are friendly and helpful. Parking in the Claremont's lot is free with validation, and it's right next to the restaurant, so no worries about finding a space. The oysters on the half shell were excellent (mid-sized Atlantics) and the "sliders" (more like a French dip with shaved prime rib) are a must-have. But beware- this "appetizer" would make a good dinner for four, if you bought some sides to go with it. This is a great choice for a special occasion, or if you want to impress a visitor from outside the Bay Area.

Loved our lunch at Saffron Kitchen! We were a group of four, and we all tried different entrees: Caesar Salad with Salmon; Cilantro Caesar Salad; King Salmon Kabobs; Qabuli Pallaw (baked lamb w/caramelized carrots and raisins, served with seasoned Basmati Rice; Aush (Afghan soup w/noodles and beef). Everything was very good. Three sauces were served (red/green/white), so we could add flavors as desired. A rectangle of delicious, soft bread was also served. Service was great, attentive without being obtrusive. We had a leisurely lunch, and will definitely return!

I brought a "mostly vegetarian" friend for her first time and she was already excited before she got there, based on internet reviews. I was worried she would set her expectations too high but nope, she said it surpassed them all. She is a touring musician and eats vegetarian all over the world, for the last 16 years, and we had gone to another Bay Area veg place the night before. She just kept saying "this is next level" and "that other place was great, just like alot of good vegetarian places around the world I have been to. But this? I've never had such great food. I have never eaten anything of this kind of quality and care and combination and chemistry." Then said "this is next level" again as she dug into the desserts....
