SPIRITED DINING AND DRINKS IN SANTA FE

In 1882, Abraham Staab, a European immigrant who became one of Santa Fe’s most prosperous merchants, built a Victorian mansion on property that now belongs to La Posada. Abraham’s elegant wife, Julia, entertained local society and visiting dignitaries in incomparable style. Legend has it that Julia so loved her home that she has never left it.

Today, we celebrate Julia Staab as our muse and honor her name and legendary hospitality with the opening of Julia, A Spirited Restaurant & Bar. The restaurant features innovative, locally sourced dishes as well as an extensive selection of fine wines and spirits.

                                          I was looking for a light meal and had the shrimp empanadas. They were buttery, flaky and delicious. Probably the best empanadas I have ever had and I’ve eaten many. I ate on the patio. It was quiet, but the seating was a bit uncomfortable. The server was delightful, but the hostess was not a good representation of what I was expecting from Sante Fe. Her hospitality needs a bit of work.

                                          The service was subpar. It took roughly 10 minutes to find someone to seat us. Once we were seated, there was no explanation or apology for the delay. There was a general feeling that no one really knew what was going on. The food and the setting were top notch, if a little overpriced.

                                          Lovely outdoor patio for having drinks and dinner. Service and food are both good, not great, but overall a solid choice for dinner with good- sized portions.

                                          Really enjoyed the margaritas!!! Great pour and flavor! The corn chowder was excellent and the “charged” bread was also great! We split the roast chicken that was also very good! Atmosphere on the patio very nice and the service on point!

                                          Our server was awesome, just really outstanding service. Friendly, attentive, and helpful. We had some specific diet restrictions that she helped solve. Our food was delicious.

                                          We went for a nice vacation dinner to Julia. We were not disappointed. The food was exceptional. I had the stuffed pepper that was beyond incredible. My husband had the bison short ribs which he said was equally delicious. The atmosphere is elegant without being stuffy. The service was impeccable. We had THE most wonderful evening and will definitely return again when we are in town.

                                          The made some substitutions and combined the pork loin and Qinoa stuffed panino peppers for one of the best meal ever Great service

                                          We had an early reservation for our Anniversary and they treated us like royalty. We had a glass of champagne and they brought us a bottle to take home with us. We had delicious cocktails and the bread service with three different butters. We both ordered the glazed pork and it was tender. For dessert we ordered the flan which was firm like a cheesecake and then they also brought us a slice of turtle cheesecake and some macarons. Dessert was yummy. The staff was very attentive. I really recommend Julia’s for exceptional service.
