   Great atmosphere, wonderfully attentive staff. Bar seating is a perfect environment to meet friends and have a great drink and meal. Love their Smoked Old Fashioned, great drink and the presentation is out of this world. Known for their steaks, but their fish options are great choices also. Strongly recommend starting with the blue cheese potato chips.

   My family and I love J Gilberts. We didn’t have our normal server (Karen) who always has a great sense of humor. We did enjoy our meal.

   Food, atmosphere and ambience were great. We were there celebrating our anniversary. Everything was great. Although the service could’ve been better and be more attentive. Overall it was a very good experience. The personal card was a nice touch.

   had 6oz filet and baked potato cream corn with bacon- all was absolutely great- the only thing was the corn had no bacon in it so i used the bacon from my loaded potato

   We both have March birthdays, my sister and me. I just had to put my 80 year old husband in a nursing home on Monday and my sister thought I needed an outstanding meal instead of the soup and sandwiches I’d been living on since January 27 th when he had to go to the hospital with chest pains. Recovery at home. Then came mid-February and he had a stroke after working all day. While in hospital they found he also had pancreatic/liver cancer. These last two months have been an absolute nightmare. So was good to feel normal again

    Food was very good. Service was excellent. Only reason i gave it only 4 stars instead of 5 is because my steak, which was supposed to be med well, came out rare. Server took it back and had it cooked more but by the time i got it back, most everyone was done eating. We would definitely go back. Their 3 course pre fixe menu is a great deal.

    Had a party of four for a later dinner. My daughter and her friend had recently returned from overseas so my wife and I had a lot to talk about with them. Wine list very nice and we ordered a bottle and an app of smoked salmon salad spread with capers, crostini and pickles. That was delightful and the smokiness of the salmon was perfect! The entrees and desserts were perfection as well, tender rack of lamb with an incredible sauce and mushroom risotto, perfectly grilled filets with that seared crust and tender meat and maple glazed plank salmon. The service was very slow paced, but that was perfect for conversation time. Three birthdays were near our table but the acoustics kept our area quite. Will definitely return when we can!

    The food was phenomenal! Just wish prices weren't so high these days. Sunday half price wine bottles help. We ordered the salmon and got the apple dessert with the cinnamon ice cream. Yum yum!

    Steaks were okay, service was good, wife ordered shrimp with her meal and it smelled very very bad, we covered it with a plate until the waitress came around and swept it away seemingly to know they had an issue but decided to serve it anyway. This isn’t something that should happen in a restaurant of that caliber. But it was handled decently and we will probably return it was an overall good experience

    Our waiter was fantastic - he made a special note of wishing the birthdays a special wish. He got the orders right and was very attentive.Got seated in the way back which is just a room with nothing but 4 tables. It was quiet - real quiet. The ambiance was pretty bad. Not the waiters fault either. I had the filet and it was cooked as requested. Someone else had a burger but he said it fell apart as he was eating it, but tasted good. The food overall was quite delicious. When I think of good steak places, this restaurant comes to mind. Very consistent.

    The food was delicious, service was excellent. Only thing I'd say is they have a rather awkward offset room from the main dining that takes away from the ambiance and over-all experience. For the price point, I don't want to be seated in a room the size of a bedroom with 4 tables and no music.

    My husband and I have been intentionally checking out new restaurants every Friday. Last night we visited J. Gilberts. We loved the ambiance, with a reservation we were seated immediately, in a booth as requested. Our server was friendly and attentive. The sour dough bread was delicious. I ordered the 4oz sirloin with the jumbo lump crab cake, a baked potato and asparagus. The asparagus was good, the steak was good, everything needed salt. The crab cake was very good and the potato was incredible. My hubby ordered the seafood mixed grill. His crab cake was also delicious, but everything else was overcooked. The shrimp were overcooked, the salmon was overcooked, the scallop was overcooked. He was disappointed. He also had asparagus but mashed potatoes instead of baked. The mashed potatoes were good. Overall, the atmosphere was great and the food was good, but we expected more for the price point. If a friend was looking for a “nice” restaurant for a date night or other special occasion, I would recommend this place but advise them to avoid the seafood.

    This was our first visit and it was FANTASTIC! We went to celebrate our 20th anniversary and took a leap of faith by allowing our server to choose our food for us. He was super personable and made excellent choices. The crab bisque and crème brûlée were our favorites. It took everything in me to not straight up lick the bisque bowl. Everything we ate was absolutely perfect. We will definitely be back.

    I will start off with we dine here quite a bit and love it here. The food itself was OK, but definitely could have been better. The bisque that I received was lukewarm so I did not finish it which was upsetting, and my steak was cooked well, but my husband’s was more of a rare when he asked for medium. The salmon that I received was a bit raw on the inside and over cooked on the out and had no seasoning. The service was great. Our waiter was amazing so nice.

    Every year I come here for my birthday with family. Our food is always very good but our server was above excellent tonight. The best we have had out of all the years! Thank you Matthew for being such a wonderful server during my birthday night out with family!

    I was ordering my dinner because of an email I received but when my food arrived I had been mistaken. The waitress explained the issue to me but her voice was extremely loud and I was annoyed that everyone in the restaurant could here her. I just told her to leave as I was starting to get very upset. The manager came to me and offered to give me the crab for the top of my steak but I refused and I just told her that the email and the menu confused me. I explained to her that I just wanted a lovely date night with my husband. The steak was delicious the music too loud for the occasion would have preferred soft music set more to the intimate dinner experience. After all that the waitress didn’t really speak specifically to me the rest of the night and in my eyes she was very unprofessional

    Our waitress was friendly, professional and helpful. Took WAY TOO LONG to get drinks from the bar, but it appeared that the bar wasn’t sufficiently staffed, so can’t blame the waitress for that. Food service was very good and timely and all our salads, entrees were perfectly prepared and delicious. Overall, a lovely dinner experience as we were celebrating my cousin’s birthday. Will definitely return.
