Main Dining Room Seating
Varie date disponibiliThe Main Dining Room is the grandest space in the Oyster Bar & Restaurant. Pass beyond the maitre d’s podium and you are under a sea of Guastavino’s graceful vaults. To your right is a deep alcove; to your left, two smaller alcoves lead to a grand arched window—pair to the one in the oyster bar. Move toward the far wall, and you under a half vault, with an intimate, square alcove to the left. The floors are of square terra cotta tiles, divided by bands of light and dark travertine. Our Main Dining room is set apart from the other dining areas which can comfortably seat up to 250 - 300 guests for a cocktail reception, depending on the setup, perfect for hosting a private or semi-private event for a variety of special occasions.
Saloon Dining Room Seating
Varie date disponibiliAt the far end of the Oyster bar, under a sign in the distinctive typeface designed by Hans Küng and through a pair of swinging half doors, is the Saloon. You’ll find the same brown leather chairs and tables covered with red-and-white checked tablecloths, but the feeling in the Saloon is quite different from all the other spaces in the restaurant. We offer private and semi-private accommodations in the Saloon Dining area. We can accommodate up to 80 (100 with bar seating) or up to 120 guests for a cocktail reception

Mangiare di scarsa qualità, lunghe attese che superano i 45 minuti. Camerieri frettolosi che tolgono i piatti dalle mani per chiudere il servizio. Il peggio di NYC.
Luogo storico, molto caratteristico.

Vini a costi alti. Un netto peggioramento rispetto alle altre occasioni
Understaffed, inattentive, mediocre.
Camerieri in generale frettolosi è abbastanza maleducati (i locali, mentre i ll personale latino no).
The food and overall ambiance are worth the stop. We had the clams casino, fried oysters, and raw oysters as appetizers. All delicious, but the fried oysters were my personal favorite. The clams casino with a little bacon were juat the right combonation of salty and smoky. I also highly recommend the crab cake sandwich. The crab cake was meaty and tasty.
Was not notified that the kitchen closes at 8pm with a 7:30 reservation. Wait staff hovered and wouldn't allow us to have a peaceful moment rushing us to leave prior to "closing time".
The best oysters we’ve ever had and amazing service and chat from Mary!
Educated in, worked in, and visited NYC often, but this was my first time dining at the iconic Oyster Bar. Easy to access in Grand Central Station, and the room was "wide open" at 6 pm. Attentive service, delicious food. Worth the visit.
They have adjusted hours for COVID, which was not disclosed
This place is so iconic. I try to go once a couple months. So happy they are open again.
Marco our server was amazing .
He made our experience one to
Remember! We would come back just for him .
THE FRIED oysters were as good as i remembered - as were the accompanying crackers and biscuits and tartar sauce - generous portion - the waitress went out of her way to be helpful as did the "busboy" - wasn't too crowded so actually very pleasant - you could enjoy the atmosphere and hear yourself think! The Bluepoint Toasted Lager was absolutely delicious even in the can - the waitress made an effort to find it since was not on tap and they were out of bottles - can't wait to go back
and the price was reasonable and very good value
Very very nice
This New York institution is a must for seafood lovers. There were at least fifteen varieties of oysters from which to choose. Our server was professional and attentive and the oysters are as fresh as can be. We try to go to The Grand Central Oyster Bar whenever we're visiting New York.
Service is excellent and attentive especially considering the casual atmosphere. It’s an iconic restaurant with a unique and beautiful ambiance. Cafeteria meets elegant. Oysters are excellent. Clam chowder is excellent. Seafood isn’t the best I’ve ever had, but it’s good and seafood portion sizes are large for the price.
This is not an inexpensive restaurant, but it's worth every penny. The service was attentive without being obnoxious. The food was EXCELLENT. Everything our party of four ordered was prepared perfectly and was absolutely delicious. The serving sizes were small enough for us to finish, but large enough so that we felt too full for dessert. Simply put, it was a wonderful experience in a historical place, and I hope to return one day.
I have been going to the Oyster Bar for more than fifty years. Presently, the ongoing COVID pandemic has had a severe impact on menu options due to lack of clientele.
The oysters options seem to be least impacted which I hope can be preserved. There is not only a supply chain threat but the far more grave issue of climate change.
“The Catch Of The Day” which appears on the daily printed menu, a kind of beautiful yet now antiquated souvenir, has drastically seen a reduction of fish. I’m fearful that this is due to issues over fishing as well as climate change and supply chain disruptions caused by the pandemic. Seafood restaurants are in deep trouble.
The dessert offer has also taken a hit. I hope that it is due to a temporary lack of dinners. However, I fear that the depleted offer will not be returning even after the pandemic is resolved. Office workers are not going to return to the offices.
Everything on the menu is good, the service is great and I felt safe from contagion. I continue to recommend this iconic restaurant but it like the city are now changed forever. In the next coming years this will become increasingly evident. I hope the Oyster Bar can reinvent itself in time to be able to meet and even celebrate within the new constraints that effect us all.
This was a super pleasant first experience. Since we arrived the staff was very courteous. We were seated promptly, food was absolutely delicious, service was amazing, the venue is pretty . Absolutely no complaints.
A bit overpriced, but that seems to be the new norm now. The restaurant was a feast for the eyes, though. Architecture was fantastic. And our waiter was excellent! The cost for the food was our only issue…but, in the days of COVID, you take the good and overlook the rest. Overall a pleasant experience!
Great food, Great Staff very helpful! Definitely recommend!
This place is as amazing as can be. Beautiful location, friendly staff, and the oysters are just perfect. I look forward to this location whenever I can fit it in to my trips to NYC!
Excellent service ang great supply and a varied menu that we enjoyed very much. It was awesome to be able to eat in this classic restaurant. Also to enter through Grand Central Station which is so very beautiful was a fantastic experience to be remembered.
Come here for the oysters the variety is outstanding and also the setting which is unique. Other dishes is not more than average.
Poor food and too expensive...
New year diner, very empty
3rd time for us and desapointed...
This place is outstanding. If you want delicious, non pretentious, super fresh seafood this is your spot!
Food was great! And the service we received was very quick, efficient, and polite! Would definitely return.
It was like straight out of a Boston oyster bar
Simple menu perfectly served and ridiculously fast service
Excellent fresh shrimp cocktail ! Sweet & firm
Fried shrimp with cottage fries ~
I went for lunch a
Asked for a meal without diary. Vegetables came with melted cheese. Sent it back, reappeared with new vegetables but still some melted cheese. Waiter not bothered in the slightest.
The restaurant looks old
Como siempre, los mariscos preparados al punto. Lo mejor son la trucha y los crancakes
Imperdible para los amantes del seafod
Food was excellent, unfortunately our server disappeared after our meal was served.
