Winner of the Open Table diner's choice award in 2025, Jerk at Nite, founded by Howard University students, in 2014, began as a solution to the lack of late-night food options at Howard University. After seeing peers struggle with unhealthy fast food, a small group of students, raised in a Jamaican household, started delivering flavorful jerk chicken and other Jamaican dishes from their dorm room. What began as a small campus venture evolved into a food truck business in 2015, and later, a brick-and-mortar restaurant.
