Walking up the front steps you hear the creak of the original floor boards, and as you enter through the large Colonial doors you may find yourself twisting the old fashioned hand crank doorbell. Every detail of the building is historical, and every picture hanging on the wall gives you a glimpse of what life was like in the 1800’s.Along with our passion for keeping history alive, we also have an even greater passion for food. The Grain House Restaurant is located on the picturesque 10-acre estate of the Olde Mill Inn in Basking Ridge, NJ. The Grain House structure was originally built as a barn in the 1760’s and was used to store grain for American Revolutionary soldiers. The barn was later moved to its current location and opened as a restaurant in the 1930’s. Today, the Grain House is a renowned restaurant in North/Central New Jersey, with a comfortable, casual ambiance.     great dining experience. food preparation and presentation were excellent. The menu is not extensive which allows the chef to excel. You need to try the bigloi tagliati as an appetizer. The wine list is a work of art. At over 230 pages it can seem overwhelming but Sean Price is great at helping you choose the right wine

    We went to the "Old Hollywood- Murder Mystery Dinner." It was a fixed price buffet, drinks separate. The show was completely interactive with the dinner guests. We had a great time and it appeared everyone else did to. We would highly recommend.

    Always a great dining experience. The Clinton House is the best restuarant in Hunterdon County and Chrissy is the best Managerial Hospitality Hostess around!

    Since they changed hands the menu has become a bit more upscale. The portions are smaller, the prices higher, but the presentation and the flavors are excellent. We had one issue with the polenta being oversalted, but the server was quick to offer mashed potatoes instead , which were definitely homemade and delicious. This is a BYOB. We would highly recommend and will be back.
