The truffle dig experience did not disappoint. The warm cider & soup to kick us off, the introduction to truffles, the education of Hugo & Dot. .the talented dogs, the stunning setting of Black Cat Truffles, the excellence of service, talents of the chef with taste & presentation of the food, great wine & engaging waiter...Do yourself a favour & visit this place.

Awesome gormae toasties

I don't live in Ballarat anymore, so it was my first return in 5 years. The original foods were still available, with more and new exciting dishes available. The environment was still great, air conditioning with a comfortable temperature (miss the open fireplace though, but wood fires are a sign of the times now), a superb bar selection with beers, wines, and even cocktails now. Very impressive. Their freshly pressed juices (cold-pressed) were also excellent. The staff was experienced and well presented, and the restaurant was very clean, including the tables, plates, cutlery, and the toilets. As to the food, it was very well presented with the cooking showing excellent display and variety of salads used. The seasoning was also very good; I did not have to add any condiments, salt, or pepper to correct the taste. Will be back in Ballarat again in 2 weeks, so will book a table again for lunch. The use of their app, is easy to navigate, showing the full menu, drinks, and desserts. I used the optional screen to advise what I wanted to order, which gave you the option to have it cooked when you arrive or pre-cook for a set time. Very handy for those with a limited time window for being seated. I specifically wanted an "It", which I didn't find on the on-line menu, but they rang me 10 mins later and confirmed that this was still available, an excellent service addition. They replied with a confirmation of the booking details, date, and menu as requested, GREAT! I would highly recommend this restaurant and rate it as a 5-star service, and I'm a hard marker and was a previous employee of the Grand Hyatt Hotel chain. *My compliments to the Chef, not just a cook.
