   Restaurant was COLD. Waiter said he’d already asked for temp to be adjusted. CLAM CHOWDER BEST EVER SM servings for a high price and we had to eat fast in order to go to our WARM CAR. So disappointed

   The food and service were fine...no one hoovering over us. We had a leisurely lunch. The view is breathtaking and once finished with eating, we took a walk down to the beach.

    Phenomenal setting and service. Such a great set up for Sunday brunch and a beautiful view on a pretty day. Food was good. Big bummer was the live music was WAY too loud for Sunday brunch. Saw many people asking to be seated far as possible from the bandstand because it was so loud. LOVE that they have live music but needs to be more 'brunch crowd' appropriate. We were the second from farthest table from the music and at times had to repeat conversation to be heard. PLEASE tone it down to more background music so conversation is not stymied. Small jazz combo would be amazing!

    Food was wonderful - my husband had Lobster dinner special with asparagus and fingerling potatoes and loved it! The Clam Chowder was delicious, it had some vegetables in it that I think gave it that extra yum!! I had the solo Crab cake dinner - just right with the slightly roasted broccoli and mashed potatoes!! Of course, dessert - Chocolate Tart was a rich chocolatey plate of wonderful! Daniel, our server was outstanding and the music for the evening, Jenny Lynn, was so perfect for a dinner night out!! The only complaint (not the restaurant’s fault) was the table of 6 loud people having 3 way conversations and apparently they didn’t care if the rest of the restaurant heard… Next time we’ll request a table away from the large group tables!

    A bit pricey, but overall a great evening. The biggest “noise” was the crashing of the waves just yards from the beautiful patio dining area….enchanting, to say the least.

    I attempted to have a nice dinner at this place but instead I was seated and then thoroughly ignored by the waitstaff. After being seated for 10 minutes water was brought to the table. After 15 minutes our drink orders were taken by our apologetic waiter. After 25 minutes our drinks arrived. After a full 40 minutes and no sign of a return from our waiter we left. During this 40 minutes we watched our waiter stand around and talk to the hostess, he waited on other tables that were seated after us and generally forget we were even there. It was the worst service experience I have had in Wilmington and I will not return to this overpriced and underwhelming place.

    The restaurant was nice. The view overlooked a grassy area fronting the dunes. The food was very good and the service was good as well. The presentation was well done. The only concern was the price of one of the entrees. The scallop entree was $34 for 4 scallops with a few mixed greens. The price for that entree was excessive for what you get.

    The fried oysters were the tenderest lightly fried ….delectable … followed my clams fettuccine with just the right pasta to clam ratio. Great service. A perfect dinner outside in the ocean air.

    We requested a quiet table, which initially we received. We were dining with my parents who were in town. A party with kids entered and one of kids proceeded to loudly practice piano on the grand piano present in the restaurant. We requested that it stop, since we were seated next to the piano. Our server tried very hard to have the manager come speak to us. She would not. She also sent word via the server that it was policy that anyone could ‘play’ the piano. If you are looking for a place with good food and terrible management then this is the place for you. We won’t be back, simply because the manager was terrible and the experience we hoped to share with our parents was ruined.

    Nice menu options. Block Runner has really upped its food game in recent years. I had a really delicious grilled sea-bass dish for dinner. Lamb meatballs and tomato were good starters but nothing to knock your socks off. Shared a wonderful but small key lime pie tart. Slow service but obliging friendly staff. Outside patio is the best spot to eat, but it was a little too chilly for that.

    The outdoor dining area, adjacent to the gorgeous gardens and pool patio, gave us the full ocean sounds, crashing waves ambiance we were looking for. The service was wonderful and it was just steps from the beautiful beach. Food was good - especially the crab cake! I love that this place has a little history on Wrightsville Beach too.

    Because the UNC-Duke game was showing on 2 TVs at the bar the atmosphere was more sports bar than fine dining. Our table was as far away from the bar as it could be but the noise level was high. I understand the long-time North Carolina rivalry (go Tar Heels), but I was disappointed in the atmosphere. Also, the list for wine by the glass is limited, and my first two choices were not available. Service was excellent, food was good. But for the price I expected something a little more classy.

    This restaurant confuses me. The Blockade Runner is a lovely boutique hotel right on the beach, and it markets East as a fine dining establishment (with prices to match - entrees $20 - $45 range), but the ambiance, food and service did not match our expectations. We arrived to a strong chlorine smell in the lobby that extended to the restaurant. It wasn't busy - only five tables had guests - so we were seated promptly and handed the laminated menus. The decor is "beachy casual," with tile floors, glass-topped tables and rattan chairs. We ordered food off the Restaurant Week menu (appetizer, entree and dessert) and a bottle of wine from the surprisingly limited wine list. [Note - the dinner menu on Open Table doesn't match the current menu at the restaurant.] Our server was personable, although he spent a lot of time chatting with the other guests. We had to ask twice for our wine, which finally arrived, uncorked, several minutes after we received our appetizer. The server did not even offer a taste; instead he just poured a huge glassful for my husband and a smaller one for me when I stopped him mid-pour. My husband had lobster bisque as a starter - we agreed that it had good flavor, although he wasn't sure if it was made from scratch. I had fried cauliflower - a large portion with a very spicy coating and sauce. It was delicious, and the highlight of my meal. My husband had Denver steak on mashed potatoes as his main, and he said it was OK and cooked to order. I had seafood Fra Diavolo - shrimp, mussels and tiny scallops over squid ink pasta. The shrimp was cooked well, but the pasta was a bit overcooked, and the sauce was fairly tasteless, considering the server said it was quite spicy. Our desserts were quite good - a cafe latte creme brulee and assorted sherbets. With more consistent food and professional service, East could be a destination restaurant. I don't think I would recommend it to non-hotel guests.

    The lower overall rating is because we thought it tacky that they charged $15 for parking even though we had a reservation to eat in their restaurant. This is not clear when you make the reservation. Food, service and outdoor. Area very nice.
