Our experience in the Maid cafe was magical although it was pretty crowded and packed. The food did take a very long time for it to come out. Nonetheless the food was very delicious. Since there was so many people the maids didn’t really pay attention as much to us. We’re only allowed to order once with the menu which would have been convenient to know before hand. I called saying I was going to be late, no one answered. The voicemail said text us on instagram or on the reservation, I let them know before hand but still our reservation got pushed back to an hour and 30 mins. Because of the grace period. I guess that was on me. The limited time we did get with the maids was enjoyable and a day to remember. But I’d still say the 20% gratuity is still outrageous since we didn’t really get to interact with the maids. It was hard getting a hold of them, they took our order and vanished until it was time to give us our food. The maids decorating/interacting with us when it was finally time to eat. That has got to be one of my favorite moments at the cafe! All the maids were super kind and made it an experience for everyone. Although some more than others but it is okay! I understand that day was super packed!! And they did their best as they could! Another part from that was taking a photo for us to remember our experience!! I would totally love to come here for my birthday!

Umeda is hands down the best restaurant in LA. Bazaar by Jose Andres was my favorite for years, with its unique and inventive takes on classic Spanish food. Umeda does the same with Japanese food. Nothing is ordinary. The flavors and textures are new and extraordinary every time, and the freshness is incomparable. Every time we experience Umeda I marvel at what a gem it is. Unhurried but attentive service, uncluttered and peaceful design and decor. I could eat here every day and still find new things to try instead of relying on just a favorite dish or two.

Best sushi i've had since Jiro's (tokyo). Fish well handled and VERY interesting varieties. Rice excellent. Toshi is a very responsive sushi chef.
