we've been here probably 4 times, this time was during the pandemic so we sat outside in front of a fire pit, which they graciously allowed even though it was kind of a pain for the server since there's no table on which to put the meal. To be honest, I've never loved this place, even though I really want to because it's near my house. Past visits have been for drinks and apps. This visit, as with prior visits, service was unapologetically slow. We understand businesses are short staffed at this time and i have figured that expectation that into my comments, we expected service to be subpar but not quite as subpar as it was. According to my husband, food was excellent and he seldom says anything about food. He had halibut. For me it was fine, nothing great. I'm vegetarian (prefer vegan actually but not hardcore) and there was literally nothing, except one soup and some sides, that was vegetarian. I know it's a steakhouse, I'm not trying to be difficult, but other than Cut, I've never been to another steakhouse where they didn't have an entrée I could eat. I knew what the menu was going in but hoped they might have an unadvertised veg menu as many restaurants do, especially those located in hotels (speaking from experience, hotel guests who are vegetarian definitely expect to be able to order decent room service meals, especially at a four seasons). I was offered some kind of broccoli in tomato sauce concoction but it sounded terrible so I went with the sides and the soup, which were B+ The ambience was nice out there by the fire pit and were definitely very distant from any other table, so those were the big plusses.
Great outdoor dining experience
I would have to say that we have dinner at Bourbon before and the food this time around was not up to par! Out of the steakhouses I have been at in the metro DC area, this is one place I would skip. The steak was cooked perfectly, but it lacked any seasoning. I know some should say that it is about the quality of the meat, but it needed some salt to bring out the flavor. However, none was offered and for the money there are better places for a better value. In addition, all of our drink orders were very slow and my second drink came well into the middle of my dinner course when it was ordered well before. For the amount of money per person, skip Bourbon and go to BLT.
Hello Aarona, I'm sincerely sorry that you did not enjoy your experience. I appreciate you taking the time to provide the feedback. We are looking into the seasoning of the steaks and the speed of service in regards to drinks. We want to invite you back join us again and to have the chance to make it up to you. Please reach out to me directly for a reservation. Kind regards, Jose C Gonzalez Bourbon Steak General Manager jose.gonzalez@fourseasons
Great service, good, and environment. As always, it’s a must-eat restaurant in DC!
Perfect place for outdoor dining during the pandemic. If you call ahead, you can reserve one of several outdoor firepit table, heated dining pods, or tables next to heaters.
Three incredible evenings dining at the Four Seasons. The test of exceeding customer expectations is doing it over three nights. Easy to fake over a single night. This team hit it out of the park ... genuine customer service, extraordinary cocktail, wine, and food options, the best of leisurely enjoying it all, and leaving ready to come back. The Vesper. The champagne. The oysters. The fries! And more. Don’t miss an opportunity to dine at the Four Seasons Washington DC. I’ll be back.
A favorite DC place to relax and enjoy great service and wonderful food. From reception to after dinner cordial, I enjoyed the best of the Four Seasons. Personal attention. Casual without forfeiting exceptional. Quality beverages and food. The cocktails and wine were perfect. I had fish this time and it was remarkably well done and presented. I’ll be back.
The Four Seasons Washington DC is a lovely place. When in town, I enjoy cocktails, wine and dinner at Bourbon Steak. It was lovely to enjoy dinner on the terrace. It was so good that I returned the next evening for another even more enjoyable and relaxing dinner on the terrace. Wonderful service. Just the right balance of attending to me and allowing some privacy to enjoy the evening. An excellent Vesper martini. Every course was prepared to perfection. Thanks as well for all your safety measures. I felt safe and very comfortable.
cocktails and desserts were super, steaks so-so, not worth the high prices
The only complaint would be the waitress brought us the wrong drink but still got charged for it
I was happy that there was outdoor seating and the waiter we had was fantastic, but it is by far the most expansive restaurant in DC. I always love the fries with sauces certainly different. We decided to stick with cocktails and not get a bottle of wine which was a mistake $30.00 for bourbon times four! The steak were very good especially the wagu and filet. What really turned us off this visit was the truffle mac with lobster came not baked but in a soup bowl in what amounted to an alfredo sauce. and there was not enough lobster to fill a large soup spoon. The dessert smores was exceptional it always is.
We love Bourbon Steak but this visit was off we will return hoping for maybe some new additions and improvement on the old recipes.
Good evening, We really appreciate your feedback and are sincerely sorry that the experience was not great. Our Chef is looking into and correcting the lobster truffle mac & cheese. Please reach out to me directly when you decide to return. Thank you, Jose C Gonzalez Bourbon Steak General Manager jose.gonzalez@fourseasons
From beginning to end, Bourbon Steak is a treasured experience. The atmosphere was upscale without being stuffy or uninviting. The wait staff was exceptional and attentive without being overbearing. The food - presentation, portion and taste - was divine.
Great steak and good spirits list especially bourbon. The black angus was actually better than the wagu so no need to over spend to enjoy a great steak. The lobster pot pie was also excellent
Well, they brought bread and fries to start on the house which were tasty. But that was the best part. This place feels a bit like a old bar with pub food as the menu. The booth was pretty worn and needed updating. The waiter was actually very nice. But the food we ordered was just not good even though we tried to like it. The salad was an iceberg lettuce salad called the wedge that literally had ice particles in it Bc it was served frozen. When we inquired they said it is served from the freezer. The taste was okay but it literally was frozen. We ordered butternut squash soup next and it was tasty but extra sweet was all you could taste with no savory aspect. We then ordered two types of fish. The sea bass and the salmon The sea bass in the miso broth was again very sweet with a single flavor - sweetness, and lacked any subtlety. The salmon was grilled and was tough - like it also came from the freezer and didn’t defrost well before being seared. At this point we finished our green tea (which was just fine) and called it a night. Nothing on the menu that we tried was satisfying. When the restaurant downstairs reopens for breakfast we will return there - for breakfast. But not back to this place. It desperately needs an update in every way.
Hello, I'm sincerely sorry about your poor experience. The issues with the food are being looked into by our Chef. What you received is not the quality that we pride ourselves on. I hope to have the opportunity to make it up to you. If I am so fortunate, please reach out to me directly for a reservation. I assure you that we are better than what you experienced on this night. Kind regards, Jose C Gonzalez Bourbon Steak General Manager
The restaurant is great ... only problem is they make up their own rules about wearing masks when ur sitting at ur table u til something is actually served. First, that’s not the law. Second, it’s really dumb because what difference does it make if there’s a glass of water on the table or not. Third, it took 9 minutes to get a glass of water. Otherwise, I recommend
Eliminating corkage doesn’t make sense to me. I won’t return until that is changed
Good afternoon, Thank you for dining with us again. It was great to welcome you back. When DC ABRA changes the "BYOB" policy we will make sure to let you know. Kind regards, Jose C Gonzalez Bourbon Steak General Manager
I love Bourbon Steak!
Everything was amazing from the service to the food, they never disappoint!
Amazing ambiance, outstanding staff, and delicious food. Always a delightful experience!
Very good service. Food was good. Very good overall experience
Our waiter was amazing. He had answers and was honest if he was unsure about something. The rest of the wait staff moved efficiently. A great experience overall.
We are not from the DMV area, we traveled from NC for my fiancé’s birthday celebration. Our waiter was amazing! The food and drinks were phenomenal! The Black Truffle Mac & Cheese with lobster is to die for. The A5 Waygu steak was the best steak I’ve had thus far. The vibe of the restaurant was very soothing. Positive vibes. I’d definitely go back and recommend this restaurant to friends and family. My fiancé enjoyed his birthday dinner!
Great! The menu has changed but still great
Outside dining was very nice. Tables were large and spaced out. Steak and whipped potatoes were wonderful.
As always ... incredible!
My favorite restaurant in DC, excellent food and service -- a bullet proof choice every time.
Amazing food and A+ service. Get the smoked s’mores. It’s the stuff that dreams are made of.
Outstanding service! Excellent wine selections, as well.
Everything was just about perfect. Wendy was very attentive and gave us even more than we asked for. Wine - Chateauneuf du Pape, Pittsburgh Rare steak, desserts (absolutely filling). She even took great pictures.
